Hello,
I spun up a test server to test the theme for portfolio based needs but the site seems very slow on the initial load. I understand there’s 20 JPEGs in the masonry but they’re exported as 80% quality resulting in file sizes of ~200KB. The time for JPEG to load is acceptable but I get a spinning cursor for 5 seconds before the site is visible. Also on the static page I see the spinning cursor for 1 second which should be instant as it’s text only. PageSpeed Insights also shows performance at 77.
I have WP Super Cache and Optimus plugins enabled and working. I’ve disabled what I could in Theme Options -> Performance.
Please advise.
Thanks!

You can’t really compare the two pages you linked to, since the page with the images is obviously much heavier (more than 7mb). I can’t see any real problems with the test in private either, it seems to be loading faily quickly.

You’re right on the two pages: one is a static text page and one is image heavy. I think what I was trying to say was, I expect the image heavy one to load slower, but I also expect the initial page load to be quick so the site itself is visible. Then the gallery masonry images can take their time loading the 7MB one at a time. If there were multiple pages with galleries, it would take 5 seconds to change between each page. Rather than change instantly and having to wait for each image to load one at a time.
Does that make sense? Is there anyway to optimize for that to happen?
October 19, 2022 at 8:58 am #1369352Hi,
Thanks for the update and clarification. I’m not sure I fully understand what you are looking for, but it sounds like you want lazy loading? If so, then you can set and activate that under Enfold->Performance. Look for the Responsive Images And Lazy Loading option.
