    Hi guys,
I am currently facing a very bad performance in my WordPress-Backend which seems to be caused be the Enfold-Theme or Layerslider…
I did already a lot of hints to get a better performance – like deleting Revisions, deactivating Plugins etc…but without success.
Finally I installed a Plugin “Query Monitor” which shows the loading times and showing problems… There it shows me a reason in “Parent Theme” -> Layerslider – which is loading 2x 5 seconds until a time-out occurs.
    See Screenshot.
    http://lsc-berlin.de/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Wordpress_Backend_Queries.png
Do you have any hint what’s wrong there?
I am also granting you Admin-access so that you can have a look in the backend and maybe find / fix the issue.
    Thanks a lot.
    Best regards,
    Oliver

    An Update from me:
If I deactivate LayerSlider in the Theme-Options then the Backend is running fast again (changing from a loading-time of 15 seconds to 3 seconds)
So it is obviously something related with LayerSlider – as the Log-Messages from “Query-Monitor” says and as this test is proving.
    Thanks for any update.

    Oliver

    Hi,

    Thank you for the inquiry.

Looks like the site fails to retrieve the data from the kreatura media, which is the creator of layer slider. If you are not using the layer slider plugin, please keep it disabled for now.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Hello Ismael,
thank you – but I am actually using the LayerSlider on my Website – therefore I can not disable it, unfortunatley.
Can you help me with retreiving the data from LayerSlider / Kreatura-Media?
    Kind regards,
    Oliver

    Hi,

    Thank you for the update.

We disabled the remote data update in the layer slider. You should not see the warnings in the query monitor now but the site is still loading a bit slow. Is the site hosted on a shared server?

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Hi Ismael,
no – it is not running on a Shared Server – indeed on the well-established hosting-provider “STRATO”.
Do I have any disadvantages with your tweak of disabling Layerslider-data-updates?
And by the way: I still see a PHP-error from LayerSlider – see error message below.
But the backend-page has now a good / acceptable loading-speed of 1-3 seconds per click. So thanks for that. :)
Anyway, the fact that you disabled something and the PHP-error in the query-monitor causes a little worried feeling… Do you think this can cause trouble in any future updates?
    Best regards,
    Oliver

    PHP-Error in Query Monitor:

    Hi,

    Thanks for following up.

The remote data requests just update the layer slider options such as templates, skins and update google fonts list. It should pose no problem once the data has been fetched and the entry in the database has been updated. We will take a look at the error.

UPDATE: FYI, we modified the enfold/config-layerslider/LayerSlider/assets/init.php line 49 and the enfold/config-layerslider/LayerSlider/assets/wp/compatibility.php file around line 223.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

OK… Thank you. So the Backend / Dashboard is fast and feels good for me.
Anyway – there are still the same 2 PHP-Errors in the query-monitor from my post above.
Will you have a look on that too or close the issue as the performance is ok now?
    Kind regards,
    Oliver

    Hi,

We reverted the previous changes back. Would you mind ask your hosting provider to whitelists the following URLs?

    // https://repository.kreaturamedia.com/googlefonts/fonts.json
    // https://repository.kreaturamedia.com/v4//data/ls-wp/

It’s possible that the HTTP requests fail because your server doesn’t allow connections to the above URLs.

    Thank you for your patience.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Hello Ismael,
I just had a call with my provider “STRATO” but unfortunatley they told me that from their side is nothing blocked – so that they can not allow that domain on any whitelist.
They told me that it might be a possibility to ask you or Layerslider / Kreaturmedia to provide an TXT-record which I could use for verification – do you know that possibility?
I am wondering if I am the only one with this problem… Could you maybe ask LayerSlider-Team / Kreaturmedia if they know that issue?

By the way: For test-reasons I tried on the same server to install another clean WordPress-Instance with only Enfold – and facing exactly the same issue there.

Thank you for further support with that.
    Kind regards,
    Oliver

PS: If needed you can forward the credentials of my Admin-access also to Layerslider-team.

    Hi,

I attached the latest Enfold beta in private content field. New version includes LayerSlider 7.5.2. Could you please update the theme and check if that helps?

LayerSlider team informed us that the issue you reported was fixed in 7.5.1 :)

    Best regards,
    Yigit

    Hi Yigit,
awesome – I tried it in a test-instance and it is working. :) No performance-issues anymore in that backend of my test-instance.Thank you. :)
When will this beta-version be available “officially”?
Thinking about if it is worth to install that beta also in my productive environment or waiting until it is coming with an official update.
But with that you can close my issue – and depending on your answer I will wait for the update or install the beta also on my productive website.
Thanks a lot again for your great support.
    Best regards,
    Oliver

    Hi Oliver,

Great, I’m glad to hear that it’s working as it should again. We can’t say exactly when Enfold 5.2 will be released unfortunately, but you are welcome to use the development version on your sites until it’s available for download.

I’ll close this thread for now then, please open a new thread if you should have any further questions or problems.

    Best regards,
    Rikard
