    Hi,
We’ve been through many forums now, hopefully you can help!

Since updating to Enfold 5, we are having some major issues. First, with the looks of our page: after 5.0, we noticed that whenever we changes anything on any page, other things started to bug. E.g. title colors, lenth and color of seperator lines, hotspots were disapperaring… When logged in, everything looked normal, but everyone else saw it buggy. It is apparently not related to the caching plugin (WPRocket) since emptying the cache doesn’t do the trick and WPRocket support told us to simple enter /?nowprocket at the end of the URL to check.
Here is an example: https://vizaar.de/en/vizaar-worldwide/ When you scroll to “Finland” you will see that the H3 is black although it should as bold text become red like the others.

When updating to 5.01, we were happy that those bugs seemed to appear less frequent (they still do occasionally), but now, we have a much worse problem. When doing some changes and trying to look at them via preview function, the page is immediately saved and published with those changes. Again, apparently not cache related and in the WordPress Forum, we were told that we need to seek support from the theme creator.
We have already asked in the facebook support group and they were thinking about possible CSS issues.

Please help, we are running out of ideas…

This is an example of a page that has published changes (red background of the contact form) by only clicking “preview”: https://vizaar.de/notfall-reparatur-und-inspektionsservice/
This happens on every page, no matter what we change, it’s always published by hitting “preview”.

    Thank you! :)

    Hey viZaar,

If you are seeing different results depending on if you are logged in or not, then it’s most likely caching related. There’s nothing in the theme which would displaying different styles or content based on if a user is logged in or not.

If you need further help, then please send us a temporary WordPress admin login and login URL so that we can have a closer look. You can post the details in the Private Content section of your reply.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,

    thanks for the fast reply!

It might be, that the different styles are a caching problem. Still, those are the minor issue. It looks unprofessional, but what is really bad is that every page is being saved only when clicking “preview” which occurs with and without being logged in…

It would be awesome if you could have a look at it! Login data is attached. Please don’t be surprised, our page is generally pretty slow (no idea why, it’s been like that since moving the test invironment to our actual hoster), which is why we really need the caching plugin. But according to WP Rocket support, the preview problem cannot be related to their plugin.

When testing, please try to do it with the url given above, my colleagues know that this is currently our bug testing page :D

    Thank you!

    Hi,

Thanks for the update and login details. I just want to double check if I’ve understood the problem you are having; if you make changes to a page, then it won’t save if you click the save button, but only when clicking preview?

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    #1357603

    Hi,

No, the changes are also applied when clicking “save”. We don’t have a preview function anymore because clicking “preview” has the same effect as clicking “save”. So both buttons do save the edits.
And I hope you understand that this is a big issue, since we like to try out how things look without the whole world to see it. Especially on the home page. And this problem started after the latest Enfold Update.

    Thanks for checking!

    Hi,

    Thank you for the clarification.

We can reproduce the issue but we are not yet sure what is causing it. This is not happening on our own installation, so this is probably caused by plugins or third party scripts. Have you tried disabling the plugins temporarily?

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    #1357672

    Hi Ismael,

Yes, we deactivated all plugins and activated them one by one – testing after each activated plugin. I saved WP Rocket for one of the last because I was expecting this to be the culprit (as you guys said, the display issues are probably caching related). The only plugins I activated after WP Rocket were all WPML related.
So when I activated WP Rocket, the issue happened again. That’s the reason why I talked to WP Rocket support first. But after they told me that this cannot be caused by their plugin, I deactivated it again to prove. BUT when I only deactivate WP Rocket (please go ahead and try if you want), the problem is still there. I’m not sure if it was a coincidence then the first time…

Hope you still have an idea what might cause this!

    Hi,
Thanks for the link to your site, it’s strange that we can not reproduce this on our demo site. You said that you disabled all plugins including WPML and this continued?
Can you create a staging site so we can test without disturbing your live site?

    Best regards,
    Mike

    #1357912

    Hi,
    No, we did the following:
    1) deactivate ALL plugins –> Problem gone
    2) activate them again, one by one, after each activation checking if the problem occured
    3) The last plugins to activate were WPRocket and all WPML related Plugins (WPML Multilingual CMS, WPML Media, WPML SEO, WPML String Translation)
When activating WP Rocket, the issue appeared again. That’s why we contacted WPRocket Support first. They stated that this is impossible to be caused by their plugin.
    4) After talking to WPRocket, we deactivated ONLY WPRocket while all other plugins where activated. The issue was still there…
    5) we contacted you

We attempted one last try today, doing the process in reverse (leaving all plugins activated and deactivate them one by one).
    1) start with deactivating Yoast Premium –> Problem still there
    2) deactivating normal Yoast –> Problem gone

We double checked now several times, the issue always occurs when reactivating Yoast.

Can you work with this information or would you still need a staging site?

    Best regards

    Hi,

We have been in contact now with Yoast. They too told us to install a staging site which we did (link will be provided below, you should be able to access it with the info given last week) and to use the twenty twenty theme instead of enfold and try again.

Since we use the enfold editor, we cannot test the effect when we deactivate enfold. So we created a new test page with the normal editor (link below as well).

Turns out we do not have the issue when using the default theme.

EDIT: Yoast support is going to do a trouble shoot in the staging environment now. I will let you know when they are finished and what they said so you don’t try things parallel

    Best regards

Okay, so the current state is the following:

    no issue…
    1) there is no issue when creating a page with standard editor instead of Enfold’s page builder (although once I thought I had one)
    2) when we deactivate Enfold and use twenty twenty, there is no issue
    3) when we deactivate yoast and have Enfold activated, there is no issue
    4) when we deactivate every plugin except for yoast and use Enfold, there is no issue

after 4) we activated plugins one by one so see when the issue comes back and it turns out that it comes back with activating WPML.

We will contact the WPML support as well… But since the problem is gone no matter which of the three we deactivate, I assume there is an issue between all three of them used together. This is pretty inconvenient because those are the major elements of our website :(

Hope you are able to figure something out and help us here…

    Hi,
    Thanks for the feedback,
    I see that you have:
    Yoast SEO
    Yoast SEO Premium WPML SEO

Did you try toggling between these, above you said “when we deactivate every plugin except for yoast and use Enfold, there is no issue” or if you only deactivate yoast there is no issue, so was that yoast or yoast premium, and does yoast and WPML SEO work together with Enfold?
I ask because many people use yoast and WPML together, but you have many WPML addons and yoast premium, so I’m thinking there is a specific conflict.

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi,

    Quick update regarding our problem.

So we moved our website to another server in hopes that a better server will save us some plugins and boost the performance. Also we hoped that the problem might be gone or easier to find.

Result: The problem is still there, but the website performs a lot faster which makes it easier to troubleshoot.
    WPML:
As I said, I contacted WPML Support: https://wpml.org/de/forums/topic/vorschau-klicken-veroeffentlicht-die-seite-direkt/
When you look at the last message by Andreas (you might have to translate it, it’s German), you will see that he could reproduce the problem on a new installation of wordpress, including only Enfold, Yoast SEO and WPML. So as we suspected, there has to be a problem between those three activated together.

Did you try toggling between these

You cannot much toggle between Yoast SEO and Yoast SEO Premium because you need the standard version in order to use the premium version. But deactivating only premium dosen’t do the trick, we had to deactivate the standard Yoast SEO. And it also doesn’t help to deactivate only WPML SEO, you have to deactivate the main WPML CMS plugin to get rid of the issue.

I will keep you updated if WPML support finds something, but in case you have any other idea, please let us know!

    Best regards

    So,

Andreas from WPM L support is able to recreate that issue on a new website only with Enfold and WPML CMS activated… Intrestingly enough that noone else has noticed that problem so far. He has forwarded the information to their compatibility team now.
