Hi, my website using Enfold keeps running into issues where my database gets bloated and eventually the server runs out of resources and I get Gateway Timeouts. Then Dreamhost has to clean things up.
After investigating it, they say it’s a problem with the way Enfold is placing “auto-loading data”
This is what they sent me:
| wp_comments | 12 MB |
| wp_links | 0 MB |
| wp_options | 9 MB |
| wp_postmeta | 125 MB |
| wp_posts | 19 MB |
| wp_term_relationships | 5 MB |
autoload-options-size is WAY TOO BIG at 1MB
ENFOLD is the problem
“avia_options_choices_dynamic_elements”
“avia_options_choices-child_dynamic_elements”
“avia_options_choices”
We strongly recommend that you work with the theme developer of the ‘enfold’ theme and have them address the fact this theme is placing auto-loaded data in the options table in this manner as this goes against best practice for the WordPress database.
————————— end Dreamhost support’s message.
What can I do about this?
Hey flylanddesigns,
Thank you for the inquiry.
According to @Guenter, the tables that you listed above are not generated by the Enfold theme. They are from an old theme called Choices, so they can be safely deleted without affecting the site. Unfortunately, we are not sure how these entries would cause timeouts as they are not created or loaded by the current theme.
Best regards,
Ismael
