    Hi there,
I have a massive problem with the blog layout in general.
I’ve set “Blog” as my standard blog page inside the Enfold settings page.
Under the Enfold Options is a menu item called: Blog-Layout, there I chose “Use Advanced Layout Editor to customize your Blog.” But it’s without any functionality. I had to choose one of the other options, and then my blog page is shown as a raster layout or whatever I chose before. Unfortunately, the ALB isn’t working anymore for my blog page.

To be clear: It worked perfectly for a couple of years but stopped working a couple of months ago. I was hoping that this might be a bug, solved in one of the last updates but unfortunately, not.

    Thanks in advance
    Bastian

    Hi Bastian,

Thanks for the login details. Is the problem that you want to design your own blog page? If so, then unset the current blog page you have in the theme option. Then you can edit the page in question and add the Blog Posts element, that will give you more freedom to create your own blog page.

    Best regards,

    Hi Rikard,
thanks for your fast reply. I don’t understand your answer in detail so let me explain what I’m trying to achieve.
    What I did:
    – I have a blog page called “blog”. The url is mydomain.to/blog/
    – I want to design the look and feel of this blog page, using the ALB (Advanced Layout Builder)
    – I’ve designed the “blog” page with several elements, even the blog post element, from the ALB
    – in theme options: “Where do you want to display the blog?” I’ve selected the page “blog”
    – in theme options: “Blog-Layout” I’ve selected “Use the advance layout editor to build your own blog”

    What is actually happening:
    – When clicking on the blog page in the frontend, the blog page is showing but without any elements from the ALB
    – the layout from this blog page is ignoring the layout from the ALB at all
    – the page is shown instead in a standard raster layout
    – so I can actually change the layout from this blog page by changing settings in the enfold options page
    – but “Use the advance layout editor” is ignored.

My guess is, in one of the last updates, a new feature was introduced called “Disable the blog”. Is it possible, that for long time users of Enfold, this new feature locked/blocked some settings which originate from the past?

    Thanks in advance
    Bastian

    Hi Bastian,

Thanks for the update. It seems that the /blog/ slug is already taken by a category, please see private. Could you try changing the permalink of either the category, or the blog page to see if that helps please?

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,
thanks for your answer. I understand what you mean but can’t follow the steps you provided.
As I mentioned before, I didn’t change anything with the category and or the permalink settings.
I tried changing the “blog” page to a new page called “blog2” but the problems keep the same.

If I change the category name from “blog” to something else like “new-blog”, then all my links are changing as well because the permalinks settings are “/%category%/%postname%/” and the category slug would be “new-blog”.
I would reproduce the same setup again… What do you think?

    Thanks in advance
    Bastian

    Hi,

Thanks for the update. I created a test page and that seems to be working as it should, please see private. Could you try using that instead please?

    Best regards,

    Hi Rikard,
thanks for your work in this case. You are right, on this new page called “blog-page” the advanced layout editor ALB is working correctly. But what should I do now? I can’t change my site structure and all my URLs because of this.
What is wrong with the original “blog” page?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

Thanks for the update. Why would you have to change all your URLs? You would only need to change the URL of the blog page, or the category called blog. They can’t both have the same slug unfortunately.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hi Rikard,
thanks for your new reply. I’ve changed the URL from “blog” to “blogs” and set a 301 from “/blog/” to “/blogs”. It seems that it’s finally working now like it should. :)
I’m totally fine with this solution but it was a still a strange behavior because it worked for months/years.

    Anyway, thanks for your help!
