Hi, my website https://www.freewriterscompanion.com has no footer showing anymore on any of the pages.
Please can you help me? I am fairly inexperienced with tech, so if possible please use laymen’s terms.
I can grant you temporary access, as I have a plugin for that.
many thanks in advance, I am out of options here.
KathyJanuary 3, 2022 at 10:13 pm #1334095Hey Kathy,
Thanks for contacting us!
Please see – https://kriesi.at/support/topic/missing-footer-after-updating-to-enfold-4-8-6-3-please-read-this-first/
If you would like us to update the file for you, please create temporary FTP and WP admin logins and post them here privately :)

YigitJanuary 4, 2022 at 1:12 am #1334109Hello Yigit
Thanks so much for your very prompt reply!
I did in fact read this support topic and tried to do the fix myself, but I would be delighted if you could go in and look at this for me.
I have added a temporary login for WP admin in the private content box, but I am sorry I do not know how to do this for FTP. I can access my FTP files via the Fasthosts control panel myself, but please could you explain how I can authorise you? (I’ve tried searching on here, Google and Fasthosts help.)
Kind regards,
KathyJanuary 4, 2022 at 4:38 am #1334127Hi Kathy,
Thanks for the login token. I checked your header.php file, but I can’t see any overrides added to it. If you are not overriding anything in header.php, then you can delete the file from your child theme. We can do that for you, but then we would need FTP access. I’m not sure exactly how your hosting provider works, but you should be able to create an FTP account in the administration. If not, then please reach out to their support to see if they can give you FTP login details.
Best regards,
RikardJanuary 4, 2022 at 3:55 pm #1334224Rikard, thanks!!
I deleted the header.php in FTP and it worked! My website footer has reappeared.
Should I also now delete sidebar.php and footer.php (that I added myself) to the enfold child folder on FTP to be safe?
many thanks for your excellent advice,
KathyJanuary 4, 2022 at 3:57 pm #1334225Hi Kathy,
If you have not made any modifications on those files, you can remove them as well :)

YigitMarch 4, 2022 at 4:46 pm #1343166Hi,
After the latest Enfold update, my footer has been completely rearranged with new column headings and contents that are messy and not at all what I want on every page of my website.
My Widgets settings are unchanged but are clearly being overridden by something, presumably from the update.
I’m adding this request for help to a previous thread because I had a problem with my footer a month ago and you sorted it out (thank you!!).
Should I apply the same fix as last time, i.e. got to FTP files and delete the header.php?
I’d be very grateful for any advice you are able to give and please let me know if you’d like a login.
My website is http://www.freewriterscompanion.com
Thanks
KathyMarch 4, 2022 at 8:05 pm #1343199Hi Kathy,
If you are not overriding any code in header.php, then you delete it from your child theme. If you are adding or overriding any code to header.php, then please try copy the file from the parent over to the child, then add your customisations back in after that.

RikardMarch 8, 2022 at 3:31 pm #1343651Hello Rikard
Thanks for this.
In my FTP, the /htdocs/wp-content/themes/enfold-child directory had no header.php, presumably because I deleted it last time I had a footer problem (see thread above).
I did, however delete the footer.php in the child theme and that seems to have fixed it.
many thanks for your help,
