custom link in menu issue

Hello,

I have set up a customer link on my main menu for “what’s new” as there is a what’s new site section on my home page which I have set up as a colour section and used the custom ID Attribute to set this.

The problem is that it works well on the homepage but if you navigate away from the homepage and then click on “What’s new” on the menu it doesn’t go anywhere!

Is there a way to set that so that no matter where you are on the site if you click “what’s new” on the menu it can take you back to the section on the homepage?
