Hello,
I have taken over a website to manage, 6 month ago. Since then I changed webhost, and somehow I overlooked that the theme updates task . When I took over the website, I didn’t get any theme key/creditentals for the theme to update, but I am that situation that I cannot go back to the previous admin of the website. Could you please help me what I can do now, in order to update the theme? Do I have to buy the theme again?
Thank you for your help.
Hey Mariann,
Unfortunately, you are in a tough spot, Envato is our licensor for the theme and keeps track of all of that stuff for us, from experience I know they will only tell you to login to your Theme Forest account, which you can not do as it is not in your account but the last developer’s account, they do not have a license transfer option.
I would recommend purchasing a new license here which will allow you to update the theme and get up to a year of support for only a little more, look for the “Extend support to 12 months” check box, which is a great value.
Sorry but perhaps you can deduct the expense.
Best regards,
Mike
Hello Mike,
Thank you for your response. In the meantime I have received a purchase code from the previous developer. With that document would I be able to get a personal token or transfer the license? Or can he arrange the transfer?
Thank you.
Mariann
Hi,
If you are in contact with the previous developer you could ask him to create a Token for you.
I didn’t find any information about transferring a license on Envato but you could ask them, they issue and control all of our licensing, we do not have access to license holder info nor can we issue licenses.
Best regards,
Mike
Thank you, Mike! I will do that.
Best regards,
Mariann
