Feature image not appearing when sharing on Social Media platforms - Support

Hi there,
Up until recently, when I share my website posts to any socials, the feature image has been automatically shared too.

I’ve just written a new blog and tried to share it and the feature image doesn’t appear. I’ve also tried to share previous posts from the last few years as a test and the same problem is now happening although wasn’t a problem a little while ago.

I’ve seen that another user has had a similar problem recently.
I’ve tried the Yoast SEO addition of feature image and blurb on the post page but that doesn’t work. I’ve tried the Facebook Debugger Tool and nothing shows up apart from the warning :

Missing Properties
The following required properties are missing: fb:app_id

I’ve tried to swap the feature image with different ones but still the same issue.

Hi Rikard,

Yup, that’s the image that should be showing when I share it to Facebook or Twitter. But, I’m getting a blank image when I go onto those social platforms. I’ve got screenshots of what it looks like but can’t find a way of sharing them with you.

Seems to be a problem for a few people so I’m wondering if it’s a wordpress issue with one of the more recent updates?

Hi,

Thanks for the update. I don’t think it’s a WordPress problem, since it’s working as it should when I try to share it. Could you try using a different browser, or an incognito or private browser window in your current browser please?

Hi Rikard,
Thanks for that suggestion. I’ve just tried to share in incognito window and the image is there. I’m guessing that I need to do something with my browser to clear something that had been blocking the image…any suggestions please?

Hi,

Yes, that is likely. Please try restarting and clearing all the cookies and cache from the browser where it’s not working as it should.
