    Hi,

I am having an issue with my website. I have pretty much tried everything to sort it out.
If you look in the Dev Tools Console (frontend or backend) you will see lots of JS errors.
This only seems to happen in Firefox (tried Firefox Dev as well). Chrome and Edge work perfectly.

    1. Enfold/Plugins/WP are fully up to date
    2. I have tried different machines
    3. I have switched hosting servers
    4. I have disabled plugins one by one and all of them
    5. I have switched themes (to default WP 2021)
    6. I have installed a fresh copy of WP

The site is an exact copy of the site with the longer domain (identical in every way).

    – It seems to effect things such as the WP “screen options” drop down menu at the top just below the toolbar
    – The WP password generator tool on the user page
    – The Enfold theme settings menu is missing in its sidebar
    – All the jQuery/JS animations that slide in/fade in etc. on the page on the frontend don’t work at all so that content is blank on the page etc. etc.

    — One other thing that might be important to know – The site was hacked a week ago. When visited for the first time (and still now) the site would show a warning of being deceptive. So what I think is happening is that Google has told (until it’s recrawled) Firefox that this site (the specific domain) was deceptive and then Firefox handles this differently than other browser by blocking JS/jQuery in an attempt to protect the user. This seems to make sense as it is the only browser that does it and the other site with the longer domain that is an exact copy works fine in Firefox with zero errors.

    Please could you kindly assist.

    Thank you.

    Hey Paul,

The theme options started working after I disabled all plugins, but I’m still seeing error messages after that unfortunately. Are you pushing the site to live? If so then something might have gone wrong during that process, could you try pushing it again, or using some other method of publishing it?

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    Hey Rikard,

I have pushed the site live already. It’s just really odd. I have probably taken 70+ sites live in my time and I have never seen this issue. Also really strange that it only seems to affect Firefox and no other browser.

I took the site live on the old host. I got a small issue there. So I took the site live on the longer URL (a different server – VPS and not shared hosting). the site here at the longer URL is working perfectly. So I decided to take this version live on the shorter URL as I know that this version is working perfectly. So that’s what I did. Both sites are identical versions but the one works in Firefox and the other doesn’t. So weird.

I followed the exact same process each time as I have done for the 70+ other sites I have taken live. So I am really stumped as to what the issue could be.

I still get all the JS/jQuery issues in Firefox if I switch themes/disable plugins. I have also installed a fresh copy of WP.

Any further help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey Rikard,

I see that the website is now working in Firefox with no errors. I think I was correct about the JS/jQuery being blocked by the browser (Firefox) due to Google having detected that the site was previously hacked and marking it as deceptive.
Last night I added the site to Google Search Console and manually submitted the site for a review. This seems to now have sorted out the issue I believe.

    All seems good now :)

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Lord_Sandwich,

We’re glad to hear that :)
Thanks for using Enfold and have a great day!

    Best regards,
    Nikko
