Good evening,
sorry to bother you, but after updating to the latest version of Enfold I noticed that the YouTube social icon doesn’t show up anymore in both header and socket.
Here’s two images to show you: https://imgur.com/a/wE1YFgfThank you for your attention,
Gianluigi BaiardiMarch 12, 2021 at 4:07 pm #1287740Hey Gianluigi,
Can you give us temporary admin access to your website in the private content box below, so that we can have a closer look?
Best regards,
VictoriaMarch 15, 2021 at 8:03 pm #1288386We are having the same issue – https://foothillspresbytery.org/ (should be between the Twitter and Instagram icons).
March 15, 2021 at 10:04 pm #1288399Good evening Victoria,
sorry for the late reply. I’m attaching the data in the private content.
Thank you for your attention,
GianluigiMarch 18, 2021 at 4:19 am #1288865Hi mgyura,
Thanks for providing the link, it seems to be fixed now, here’s my screenshot: https://imgur.com/zrTIht1

NikkoMarch 18, 2021 at 4:21 am #1288867Hi Gianluigi,
Thanks for giving us admin access.
I have checked on your site both logged in and as a guest and I could see the youtube icon.
Please check the screenshot in private content.Best regards,
NikkoMarch 18, 2021 at 8:14 pm #1289046Nikko, what browser and OS are you using? I am not seeing the icon on Firefox, Chrome, or Safari on MacOS 10.15.7.
March 18, 2021 at 9:24 pm #1289054Hi Nikko,
thank you for checking, but just like mgyura I still don’t see the icon on Chrome and Edge on Windows 10 and on Safari on iOS 14… 🤔
Best regards,
GianluigiMarch 19, 2021 at 4:09 pm #1289223Hi Gianluigi and mgyura,
I checked both of your sites using Windows 10 in Chrome, Firefox and Edge.
The screenshots I gave are from Chrome, I also tested with a tablet but it’s also showing properly.
Can you guys try to check in incognito mode? or maybe other device?Best regards,
NikkoMarch 20, 2021 at 1:55 pm #1289340Hi Nikko,
I’m not using the in incognito mode and I checked through some friends’ PCs and phones, but they also report the same issue. I also cleared my browser cache but nothing changes… Could it be related to our location and server? In fact I also visited mgyura’s website and there I see no problem just like you do.
Anyway if no direct solution could be found I would understand, it’s a weird situation…Best regards,
GianluigiMarch 20, 2021 at 10:43 pm #1289370I am on a MacBook Pro. I tried on a friend’s Windows machine (Windows 8, Chrome), and there is no YouTube icon. On my machine, I tried incognito/private in both Firefox and Chrome, and same results.
March 21, 2021 at 10:09 am #1289420Hi Gianluigi and mgyura,
I’ll ask my colleagues to check on it since both of your sites are showing the youtube icon on my end even on other devices I have.
Best regards,
NikkoMarch 21, 2021 at 5:13 pm #1289477Hi,
@Gianluigi and @Mgyura thanks for your patience and links, so I first tested both of your sites on Windows 10 & Mac Big Sur with Chrome & Safari & Brave, etc.. and the YouTube icon showed just fine from the USA, but when I tested with a VPN in Italy @Gianluigi’s icon did not show with this error:
[Intervention] Slow network is detected. Fallback font will be used while loading:
So the error links to: Feature: Intervention: WebFonts use adaptive timeouts to take fallback fonts and at the bottom of the article the solution is:
Web site owners can opt-out from the intervention by setting CSS font-display to other than ‘auto’.
but I don’t believe we have set the display to “auto” specifically, I believe the browser is assuming this based on our css:#top .avia-font-entypo-fontello, body .avia-font-entypo-fontello, html body [data-av_iconfont='entypo-fontello']:before{ font-family: 'entypo-fontello'; }
So I believe the slow network is the cause and the browser is looking for shortcuts, and is doing this, it’s not so much the YouTube icon than the waterfall of the DOM is just happening to pick the last loading one or such. So we could try setting the display to “block” so the browser will load the font:
#top .avia-font-entypo-fontello, body .avia-font-entypo-fontello, html body [data-av_iconfont='entypo-fontello']:before{ font-family: 'entypo-fontello'; display: block;}
which may work, but the site may also still have other issues due to the slow network.
I do note that @Mgyura is also in the USA, so I’m not sure how to recreate a test for you since we are both in the USA, but I do believe that the issue is also a slow network, so I believe the same css would work.
Please note that while this may help, I would recommend a webhost on a better network, sort of like that saying: Speed Matters 🙂 but then again we had to jump through a lot of hoops to see the error, so maybe very few people are getting the error, and even fewer are looking for that icon? Just a thought.Best regards,
MikeMarch 21, 2021 at 8:02 pm #1289487Thanks for the help, Mike. Unfortunately, the added CSS did not work. Also, our network speeds are fine (we are with WP Engine, so a pretty excellent host). Why would just that one icon not be loading? All of the other icons are fine, just not YouTube.
March 22, 2021 at 12:55 pm #1289614Hi,
@mgyura thanks for your feedback, I was not able to reproduce the error on your site, and I was only able to reproduce the error on @Gianluigi’s site when I used a VPN, as you can see from the screenshots and DevTools error link. So I’m assuming that you are experiencing the same issue, but this could be incorrect to assume because other factors could be browser-based “Ad-Blockers” or extensions, etc, but from your post that you tested on a friend’s Windows machine I doubt both machines are using the same extensions. Thus a slow network from your side, such as a wifi hotspot, phone signal or on your webhost side, CDN, etc makes sense to me.
All of the icons are shown with the fontentypo-fontello.woff2
as shown in the screenshot above, not just the YouTube one, the reason the YouTube one is not showing is because the browser did this:[Intervention] Slow network is detected
in the DOM waterfall.
But please note that the error and screenshots are from @Gianluigi’s site when I used a VPN, I was not able to reproduce the error on your site. Maybe it is a stretch to say that you are both experiencing the same error, but I wanted to try my best to find some sort of reason why this is occurring and this was the only this I could see the error on Windows 10 & Mac Big Sur
Please try testing your site like this: Go to Screenshot Guru and enter your url and view the results which show your YouTube icon:
Best regards,
MikeMarch 22, 2021 at 5:40 pm #1289676We have multiple people experiencing this issue for this website – all on different computers and browsers and in different parts of the country. If it’s looking okay to you, but not to others, even if it was due to some sort of network issue, how would I “reset” it. I’ve already cleared browser cache and server cache, and nothing has changed.
It seems very coincidental to me that both @Gianluigi and I are experiencing the exact same error with just the YouTube icon and none of the other icons. To me, combined with several people across the country seeing the same thing I am, that points to either a code issue or a font issue. I thought perhaps it has to do with the fonts installed on your computer – we’ve had a similar issue on Windows machines with Helvetica – but then that doesn’t make sense that @Gianluigi can see our website’s YouTube icon fine but not his own.
Testing it on Screenshot Guru, I can see the YouTube icon, but that doesn’t really tell me anything or help me fix the problem.
March 23, 2021 at 10:37 am #1289812Hi,
Testing it on Screenshot Guru, I can see the YouTube icon, but that doesn’t really tell me anything
What it says is that a completely different computer on a different network is showing your page loading correctly, this would be the same as if somebody wanted to know if your website was down or not, they would use downforeveryoneorjustme.com
I hear your frustration and I wish I had more to offer but Nikko and I both can not reproduce this, and a third-party test can not either. I will ask the rest of the team to take a look, perhaps I missed something.Best regards,
MikeMarch 23, 2021 at 11:40 am #1289830Hey,
I just checked your websites and I can too confirm that YouTube icon shows up fine – https://imgur.com/a/qkQPCAR
@mgyura if you have not tried already, could you please go to Enfold theme options > Social Profiles and choose another social icon for YouTube, save theme options, flush browser cache, choose YouTube social icon and save once again and check if that makes any difference?Regards,
YigitMarch 23, 2021 at 12:26 pm #1289845Good morning to everyone,
and thank you @Mike for your efforts, but unfortunately although I added your CSS both in the General styling page and in the custom.css file of Enfold Child theme I couldn’t solve the problem.
The loading speed of our website seems to me quite ok, and being it also a newly launched student association website we probably won’t upgrade our hosting plan if this is the only issue. Maybe after the pandemic the network will be less stressed and things will get better by themselves, so for the moment I just removed the YouTube social icon.Best regards,
GianluigiMarch 23, 2021 at 5:34 pm #1289958The icon magically appeared for me today, but it is still missing for my colleague and for the client (who are in two different locations – one in Tennessee, one in South Carolina).
We tried switching it to a different icon, which we could see, but when we changed it back, it still wasn’t there for my colleague (and this was after clearing her browser cache).
Thank you all so much for your help!
March 23, 2021 at 6:36 pm #1289964Are you all able to test from a specific region in the US? Can you test on the east coast? South Carolina specifically, or as close as you can get?
March 26, 2021 at 6:59 pm #1290623Hi,
@mgyura I changed the IP to Ashburn, VA and checked but icons still showed up on my end – https://imgur.com/a/TmheK1S. I am pretty sure issue is cache related. Could you please ask your colleague to clear cache in browser settings and check again?Best regards,
YigitMarch 27, 2021 at 8:40 pm #1290775Interesting… We’re nearly certain this is an ISP problem with our network – issues have been happening on some of our older sites specifically on the east coast. It is definitely not cache – my colleague and the client have cleared their caches and used multiple browsers several times. We’ve also cleared the server cache several times.
March 28, 2021 at 2:56 pm #1290939Hi @mgyura
We’re nearly certain this is an ISP problem with our network
Very good then, I recommend closing this thread then since the thread owner’s issue is solved, and we can not recreate your (@mgyura) specific network issues. While we always try to assist in any way we can, network issues are outside our support scope.
Thank you for understanding.Best regards,
MikeJune 7, 2021 at 3:34 pm #1304431Just to Chime in, also having the same issue. It’s not ISP/speed related. Only the Youtube Icon doesn’t work. There is an issue with one of the recent updates. If it was ISP or something else, there would be issues with other social icons. Seeing that it’s specific to youtube, what could it be?
It is our most popular/used social media channel and frustrating.
June 8, 2021 at 12:25 pm #1304620Hi,
@sump22 I checked your site in Windows 10 with Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and your topbar & footer YouTube icons are showing correctly, I also used site-shot.com to ensure that they are available to other browsers. I’m not sure why you can not see your icon, other than something blocking it like an adblocker? I also see a FB script has an errorMinified invariant #11797; Params: 113 [Caught in: Module "VisibilityListener"]
perhaps FB is blocking it, or is trying to monitor the clicks and is getting a js error? Try removing all FB widgets and scripts and see if that changes for you, if it was FB it could only target some people.Best regards,
Mike -
