I’m not sure whether this issue is theme-related or not, but I’m gonna briefly describe the series of occurrences behind it:
Firstly, I had updated the theme yesterday and made sure the site was functioning properly so edited the whole afternoon without experiencing any trouble whatsoever.
Today, when retaking over the web design work and updating the home page once some adjustments were made, I refreshed the actual page and all of the sections created a strange “white padding” on both sides, up and down. I also edited a different page just to double-check and the problem also took effect on the newly edited page.
I immediately started searching for solutions but could find any. First I used Chrome’s inspect tool and could not see any real padding existing on both sides of each section. Secondly, I disabled all of the plugins and rechecked the pages, but no change was noticed. I then re-uploaded 2 previous versions of ENFOLD (from 2019 and 2020), but nothing changed, the white paddings persisted. Finally, I started looking for possible default setting that could have taken up after the theme’s update, but everything was apparently fine and it certainly does not make sense that they would have taken effect one day later since the actual padding didn’t show up but today.
I haven’t updated WP cos’ there hasn’t been any releases in the last few days and automatic update is not even enabled on the site. Can anyone pls help me out with this issue?
I’ve also provided a link in the private content area, in case you wanna take a closer look into the matter.
Kind regards,
HC
March 6, 2021 at 7:46 am #1285992Do you mean between elements up and down the page or left and right of the elements?
I have found some random <br> tags have been added between elements of the page builder.
take a look at https://www.thinkjarvis.co.uk and look between the icons as per screenshot below:
https://www.thinkjarvis.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/br-screenshot-1.jpg
Is this what you mean?
I’ve just seen that Yigit has posted a link to a temporary workaround on a couple of other posts however the link has expired (404). Looks like Enfold are aware of the problem if is the same problem I have?

March 6, 2021 at 8:44 am #1285999Hi TJ,
Exactly, they look the same as mines (accidental paddings), so I guess it’s the very problem… not sure if the referenced website has them intentionally placed, but in my case, these “white paddings” appear even in the header section once I update it after editing, so I’ve stopped before more pages get altered.
Are you confirming that it is a theme-related issue?

HC

March 6, 2021 at 8:29 pm #1286100UPDATE:: I’ve installed the brand new Enfold release today and updated the pages. but there is not change yet. Does it mean I’ve got to rebuild the layout?

HC
March 6, 2021 at 11:55 pm #1286117Edit the page, open every item inside the page, like text boxes, etc. just open it, close it, and safe the site. this seems to write new code.
Edit: Its enough to edit just one object and save directly after it. The others will be updated to the correct data too.

March 7, 2021 at 8:16 am #1286156Hi hacart,
Sorry for the problem. Opening an element on the page in question, and saving after, should help. Thanks @werk32 and @thinkjarvis for helping out :-)
Best regards,
RikardMarch 10, 2021 at 2:33 pm #1287120Hi,
Sorry for the problem. Opening an element on the page in question, and saving after, should help.
This is not a perfect solution. Enfold needs to resolve this asap. I cannot afford to edit every single page on a site to resolve the white spaces appearing after updating the Theme.
Opening an element and saving might get rid of the space in one place but then it appears in another on the same page. I have opened and saved many elements and the the issue just disappears and then reappears after another edit on the page.
How soon will a proper solution be provided for this bug.
Thanks,
JohnOMarch 10, 2021 at 3:46 pm #1287157Hey @johnoros,
Please make sure you are using Enfold 4.8.1. Then updating the page will remove all br tags on the page and they will not re-appear when you edit the page again. I am afraid the solution is to update the pages. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Cheers!

The extra <br> tags are only added to pages that have been edited in version 4.8. If you have not opened and updated a page you shouldnt have to revisit it and update it again in 4.8.1
This is the experience I had with my company website prior to updating other sites to the latest 4.8.1.Essentially I had the same element on two different pages. The one edited in 4.8 showed an extra <br> tag. The one that was not edited did not add the tag.
I hope this helps.
March 10, 2021 at 3:55 pm #1287163Hi,
Thanks so much for your input @thomasjarvisdesign. We have released 4.8.1 as soon as we can but sadly it still affected many users.
Cheers!
YigitMarch 10, 2021 at 4:01 pm #1287164Hoping others have noticed that they dont need to re-visit every page if they have not updated the design in 4.8!
No problem this end. I delayed roll out until bugs were fixed :) So only just starting to apply it to other sites. :)
March 19, 2021 at 5:50 pm #1289254Hi Team Kriesi,
I have a huge problem with that br-tags on a multilanguage-page (with WPML). It costs me a lot of lifetime.
The english and french translations don’t react to your open, click and save-solution.
It’s on a live site, but I have a twin dev-system for you to check (please see private content).
Best regards,
VeraMarch 23, 2021 at 7:06 am #1289772Hi Vera,
I’m not sure if I understand the problem you are having. Could you try to explain a bit further, or post a screenshot highlighting it please?
Best regards,
RikardMarch 23, 2021 at 11:04 am #1289816Hi Richard,

VeraMarch 23, 2021 at 11:56 am #1289833Hi Vera,
Please add following code to bottom of Style.css file of your child theme on your live site if you are having the issue there while we inspect the issue further
.wp-caption + br { display: none; }
Edit: @vera I thought it might be related to attachments however I could not reproduce the issue on my local installation. Could you please post FTP logins here privately as well?
Best regards,

March 23, 2021 at 6:55 pm #1289969Hi Yigit,
thank you for your reply. The code was added to the child theme and it worked. Both on dev and live.
Please see the FTP-login for dev-server in private content for further inspections.
Best regards,
VeraMarch 29, 2021 at 11:50 pm #1291183Hey Kriesi team,
I’ve done another fresh Enfold installation (latest version) and the <br> tags re-appeared so now I don’t know how else to proceed, given that the last time I experienced this issue I could resort to installing the latest Enfold version, but now while I keep editing and saving pages, theses <br> tags persist.
Regards,
H
March 30, 2021 at 12:03 am #1291184Hi again,
I’ve just solved it by reinstalling the theme once more.
Kind regards,
H
