I installed a plugin to duplicate posts and pages (Yoast Duplicate) but it doesn’t work on portfolio items. Is there a possibility to duplicate the portfolio items as well?

Try to look for other plugins, search for example duplicate page check on the ratings and then descriptions and see if it includes custom post types.
