Hi,
I was wondering if you have any update/news to make the Google Maps element fully GDPR compliant, as described in this 2-year old thread:
https://kriesi.at/support/topic/google-maps-double-click-solution/I’m pretty much the same opinion as @Guenni007 in the above thread.
Enfold is one of the most popular themes, and full GDPR compliance for the European/German market should be a top priority. I’ve seen other WordPress-Themes where this has been implemented properly. And not only for the European/German market. I’m not a lawyer, but the way I understand it, (strictly speaking) websites that are not fully GDPR-compliant should not be accessible from within Europe.
I know, no-one outside Europe really cares much about it. But I remember when the whole GDPR thing was rolled out, some US-based website (newspapers) dsiplayed a message saying “Sorry – due to GDPR our website is not available in Europe”.It’d be really great to get a proper response/timeline from the Kriesi Team on this.
Enfold has been my go-to theme for the past few years. I absolutely love it. But one of my clients (Germany) just had his lawyers revise his website, and he’s not impressed. So until this problem is solved, I can’t really use Enfold for European clients that want Google Maps. Many thanks!

Thank you for reporting this.
I added an issue to our dev repo to be reviewed for one of the next releases.
Best regards,

I really do hope this will be fixed in a timely manner. As an Austrian, Kriesi should be able to find out more about Germany’s strict GDPR rules. (Probably similar to Austria anyway). Also: I’d like to add that I generally don’t like it when people ‘blackmail’ companies/developers by saying “if you don’t fix this, I will buy something else”. The world isn’t always the way we want it to be….
However, with GDPR issues like this, webdesigners like me need to be very very careful as otherwise we’d be opening ourselves to potential indemnity demands in the future… and I simply can’t afford to do that. Thanks again!
