Hello,
We are unable to “customize” appearance or edit CSS. When we go to Appearance> Customize or Appearance> edit CSS we are getting a “critical error” message.
“There has been a critical error on your website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.
Learn more about debugging in WordPress.”We have deactivated all plugins to see if that was causing the problem but the problem persists. I believe this is a problem with ENFOLD somehow but I don’t know what is happening. Please help. Thank you.

RolandOctober 15, 2020 at 3:45 am #1252888Hey rolanddon,
Please post us your login credentials (in the “private data” field), so we can take a look at your backend.
- Install and activate ” Temporary Login Without Password “.
- Go to ” Users > Temporary Logins ” on the left-side menu.
- Click ” Create New “.
- Add the email address for the account ( you can use (Email address hidden if logged out) ), as well as the ” Role ” making that the highest possible and the expiry about four days
( to be sure that we have enough time to debug ). - Click ” Submit “.
- You’ll now have a temporary account. Please provide us here in the private section the URL, so we can login and help you out.
When your issue is fixed, you can always remove the plugin!
If you prefer to not use the plugin, you can manually create an admin user and post the login credentials in the “private data” field.Best regards,
NikkoOctober 27, 2020 at 3:18 am #1255948Hello,
I was able to update the PHP version to 7.3. My Enfold version shows that it is 4.7.4 and that there are no updates available (both shown in attachments). Do I need to go to envato to get the token to update my theme? Why is it so complicated to update the theme every time? When I switch themes the critical error when going to edit css goes away. I have been writing about this issue for many weeks and cannot get legitimate help. Did you use the temporary login to view my backend? Some answers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
October 27, 2020 at 1:47 pm #1256051Hi rolanddon,
The latest version is 4.7.6.4 and yes the envato token is necessary in order to update it (this is required by envato/themeforest).
As for the theme update, it shouldn’t be complicated once you have registered the theme, it should just be one click.
However, if you have recently updated from 4.4 and below then the reason for the inconvenience is the changes in envato/themeforest which has transitioned from using of API key to tokens which our theme would also have to adapt.
As for the issue, we requested admin access via the plugin mentioned, so we can investigate the cause of the issue and try to fix. The link you gave won’t give us access, we are expecting a link that looks like one in private content, please check.Best regards,

October 30, 2020 at 6:30 am #1256979Hi Roland,
You can create temporary admin access which you can remove after the issue is fixed.
Also, post everything relating to access to your site in private content since this forum is public.Best regards,

Just post it in private content.
Everything posted in there won’t show in the public, the only ones that can see it is the thread creator (you, in this case) and all moderators.Best regards,

November 6, 2020 at 1:06 pm #1258851Hi Roland,
We haven’t received any credentials.
You should be able to see it in this thread if it is posted.
You have posted the site link but it does not give us access and the link in private content (which you previously provided did not work as you can see in Yigit’s reply).
If you’re having issues with using the plugin then you can just post the username and password in the private content.Best regards,

November 9, 2020 at 4:24 am #1259162Hi Roland,
Thanks for giving us admin access.
I have installed and activated this plugin: WP File Manager which temporarily fixes the issue.
However, the permanent solution is to update the latest version and you can delete this plugin.
If you decide to update the theme, please don’t forget to create a backup first.Best regards,
NikkoNovember 13, 2020 at 12:08 pm #1260315Hi,
Thanks for your help. I want to know if I can adjust the size of the fonts in the header, and how to change my header to be transparent in my current pages. Please help.

November 16, 2020 at 6:20 am #1260642Hi Roland,
I apologize for the delayed response.
For the main menu font size, go to Enfold > Advanced Styling > (Select an element to customize) select Main Menu Links, then click Edit Element, then set the font size.
For the header transparency, edit the page then in the sidebar, find Layout (located at the bottom right), then set Header visibility and transparency to Transparent Header.Best regards,

I am sorry I could not find the sidebar when editing the pages. Can you please advise me more about where to find the “sidebar”. Thank you.

Please make sure that you edit your page and find the Layout section there. Here is a screenshot from my local installation – https://imgur.com/a/M8VYNb4 :)
