Gday Kriesi
I am having an issue with a developing website where the ALB fails when I use text blocks containing apostrophes.
WP5.5, Enfold 4.7.6.3, php7.4, Brave browser on a Mac.
I will paste a screencast in the private content, along with WP access credentials.
Thanks for any help you are able to provide.
cheers
DarrylSeptember 3, 2020 at 5:36 am #1242977Hey Darryl,
Thanks for the video and sorry for the problem. I see the problem on your actual site, and I can see that the server is throwing a 403 forbidden error on the What We Do page. I copied the text to my local installation, but I’m having no problems there. It’s working as expected, so it might be something going wrong locally on your site. Could you try disabling all plugins to see if that makes any difference please?
Best regards,
RikardSeptember 4, 2020 at 2:14 am #1243182Thank you Rikard, I have disabled the plugins (renamed the directory) and renamed my child functions.php file in case… no change here, if you could please check yours, and we can keep isolating things thereafter.
Thanks for your help with this, much appreciated.
cheers
DarrylSeptember 8, 2020 at 4:57 am #1244144Hi Darryl,
Thanks for the update and sorry for the late reply. I still can’t reproduce the problem on my local installation, so I’m not sure what the problem could be unfortunately. Could you try reaching out to your hosting provider to check if they can see why the server is responding with a 403 error on that particular page please? Also please create a test page so that we can experiment a bit with the content.
Best regards,

I don’t think it should be necessary for the hosting provider to get my IP, as they should be able to reproduce it on their end as well. If they edit the page in private, activate the Layout Builder, then select to inspect the page in their browser, then they will see the 403 error. Please see link and screenshot in private.

RikardSeptember 9, 2020 at 5:30 am #1244543Hi again,
I added the problem text to the test page but I’m getting the same problem unfortunately. Would it be ok if we activate debug mode on your installation? https://kriesi.at/documentation/enfold/intro-to-advanced-layout-builder/#debug-mode
Best regards,
RikardOctober 7, 2020 at 10:58 am #1251098Hi Rikard, my apologies, I had added the code for debug, but failed to write back.
The recent v4764 had tweaks that improved special character processing, and I was able to re-introduce all the special characters back.
However, introducing ‘one more’ colon made the ALB stop working. You can see that in the Browse versions to the most recent changes.
I was hopeful that it was fixed, but seems still an issue. Do you want me to provide any details again or do you retain them?
cheers, and thank you for any help you can provide me, much appreciated.

October 8, 2020 at 7:49 am #1251323Hi Darryl,
Thanks for the update. I still can’t reproduce this problem on any of my installations, not even on a live server. Please see private, I copied your text to a page there, but it’s not displaying any problems or generating any server error messages.
Did you reach out to your hosting provider, and did they offer you any help? They should be in a better position in order to tell you why the server is responding with a 403 error. You could also try to disable all plugins, to see if that has any effect on this particular problem.
Best regards,
Rikard -
