    I have a fresh install of WordPress and Enfold, also using Enfold Child. Trying to import Construction Demo and it keeps saying “It Did Not Work”.
    I have read all the articles on the forum regarding this issue and followed all the instructions with no luck.
    My PHP.ini entries are as follows:
    memory_limit = 512M
    output_buffering = 2048
    max_execution_time = 6000;
    max_input_vars = 3000;

    P.S. I tried the manual construction.xml import and it seems to hang and not import.

    Please help, i have already spent many hours trying to get it to work and no joy.

    Thank you in advance for your help

    Hi Rikard,

    Any progress?

    Hi,

    Sorry for the late reply. You are getting this error message from the server when trying to import the demo:

    Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 504 (Gateway Time-out) admin-ajax.php

    I’m not sure exactly why that is unfortunately, but I’ve asked the rest of the team for help as well. Please reach out to your hosting provider as well with this information, maybe they know how to solve it for you.

    Best regards,
    Rikard

    I talked to the hosting provider, they went into my word press installation, selected the Enfold demo import and it imported with no problem, this makes me wonder which end is/was the problem. Is it possible that the server that supplies the demo files is too busy or too slow?
    I see many people on the forum that have this same problem with uploading demo files. So I can’t imagine that the problem is the hosting company.

    I also notice that you already had the images for the demo uploaded to my site, after which the import done by the hosting provider worked. This leads me to believe that the issue is on the side of the server that is supplying the demos and not anything else. What do you think? is this going to be an ongoing issue or are you working on resolving it.

    I read in your upcoming updates that you think there is a fix see below

    In Pull Requests:

    feature: New demo importer with download of demos from external server

    Hi,
    Sorry for the late reply and glad to hear your host was able to import the demo. Typically this error seems to occur with “Managed WordPress” hosting accounts that have certain security settings. It doesn’t seem to be every “Managed WordPress” host, but typically these types of accounts are limited to the user for making changes to the server settings and many hosts will not change settings or advise which settings are used.
    One solution that sometimes helps is checking the PHP settings on the server to see if the secure options are activated.
    If “allow_url_fopen, “allow_url_include” and “register_globals” are “off”, try turning these “on”.
    I suspect that your webhost temporarily made a change to your server settings before they imported the demo.
    The dev team is working on a new importer, but right now we are unsure when this will be ready.
    Since your demo is now imported shall we close this thread?

    Best regards,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,

    I have read your caned response to this issue on many other posts that did not solve their problems.

    NO my host did not make any changes, I walked him through to my WordPress site and all he did is click the import demo as I watched him. This has to do with connection speed, gateway speed and the delivering server’s speed. My guess is that my host has a much larger bandwidth then I do therefore the import worked.

    My account is not a “Managed WordPress” account, it is a web hosting account and I install WordPress and other type of websites for my clients.
    I have other themes with large demo files that I easily import a good example of that is the Avada theme and it’s demo files, most of which are huge.
    In my opinion the problem is caused by where Enfold demo files reside and are pushed. That is where you should be looking for answers.
    I have seen your customers sent for a wild goose chase with this type of reply and none seems to have solved anything.

    So please look into your distribution systems and figure out what is the real cause of your customers being unable to import most demos, only small demos will install. Perhaps your servers need attention and not your clients.

    Regards

    Hi,
    Thank you for your feedback, I’m not sure that the demo import would behave differently for you logging into your site and clicking the button or your webhost logging into your site and clicking the button, I certainly see that the import worked now and that is good. I will pass your feedback to the dev team.
    Unless there is anything else we can assist with on this issue, shall we close this then?

    Best regards,
    Mike

    I will let you contemplate your answer and analyze what you just said.
    It is obvious that someone within your organization has determined that there is a problem with demo import otherwise they would not have posted this:
    In Pull Requests:

    feature: New demo importer with download of demos from external server

    You may close this request and hopefully fix the issues on your side.

    Hi,
    Very good then and thanks for your feedback, we will close this now. Thank you for using Enfold.

    For your information, you can take a look at Enfold documentation here
    For any other questions or issues, feel free to start new threads in the Enfold forum and we will gladly try to help you :)

    Best regards,
    Mike
