    Hi,

When I have worked with wordpress in the past and do not want a page to be public – I set the page to draft mode – however I cannot see this an option.

I would like to set the blog page to not be visible until blog posts are ready. I have set it to private, but I would like the page completely not off for the timebeing, with the option of then publishing. How can i do this please?

    Many thanks,

    Rob

    Hey emrisproperty,

The draft mode still exists, you can see it in top right portion in the backend.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Nikko,

Thanks for your quick reply, I can’t see these buttons next to the default editor button – I am in the blog page in the back end and looking at the top and at the right too. I have provided admin access if required :)

    Thanks,

    Rob

    Hi Rob,

Thanks for giving us admin access.
There are 2 ways it can be done on your site.

    1. Page Backend
    – Edit the page
    – Click Edit in Status: Publish (upper right)
    – A dropdown will appear with the draft option

    2. Pages
    – Hover on the page and click Quick Edit
    – Click on Status dropdown and you should see the dropdown option

    Hope it helps :)

    Hi Nikko,

Thanks very much for your helpful reply with screenshots :)

I have set the status to draft but this has not unpublished the page in the way I am familiar with. The page appears in the draft tab but also in the main pages tab. It is still on the front end of the website.

How do I unpublish it in a way so that I can remove it from site and republish it at a later date please? the draft mode has not has the desired effect

    Thanks,

    Rob

    Hi Rob,

    You’re welcome. :)
Inside the page, just below Status: Publish you’ll see something like Published on: Jan 12, 2019 at 09:12 then an Edit link, click on Edit and set the date in the future date.
    Hope this helps.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

    Hi Rob,

I have checked it and it seems you have done it properly.
The reason why it’s showing the content is because you’re logged in with an administrator account.
If I’m not logged in, I could still see it in the menu but it will say page cannot be found.
To remove it from the main menu (I believe this is what you actually like to do), go to Appearance > Menus and remove Blog from the main menu.

    Best regards,
    Nikko

Excellent thanks Nikko! Good to know how to do it – this worked :)

    Now removed the blog temporarily.

    Thanks again,

    Rob

    Hi sorry,

Back again. This has removed the blog on desktop but not on mobile – please could you advise further?

    Many thanks again,

    Hi Rob,

Can you give us a screenshot?
I have checked it and it does not show up on my end in the burger menu.
Maybe you’ll need to clear browser cache.

    Best regards,
    Nikko
