Custom Post Types and equal height columns

When using a custom post type and the equal height columns setting I am seeing <!--close column table wrapper. Autoclose: 1 --> and what should be three columns each expand to a full width column. The code stays the same and I just switch post types and it breaks.

Turning off equal height resolves it, as well as using any built in post type (page, post, portfolio) but any of the custom post types fail. The custom post types don’t have their own template, although I’ve tried that and just used the same code as page/portfolio anyway.
