    Hi.

    I have taken over hosting and management of a website from another developer. The former developer purchased the theme using their own Themeforest username. The API key is valid and verified in the website, but that developer is no longer affiliated with the organization that owns the site and that has hired me to manage it. I don’t know if that person is available to help.

    Is there something I need to do, or can do, to change the Themeforest username for this instance of the theme in order to get it linked to my Themeforest account rather than the person who purchased it? I can provide the API key if needed. Or do they need to transfer it somehow?

    Hey Arrastia,

    The thing is, the user name and API key are not added to the theme anymore, now you have to generate the token to register the theme and get updates. To generate the token for this license, you need access to this ThemeForest account. Do you have access to that account?

    If not, you might need to purchase another license, this way you’ll have control over the account and get the fresh version of the theme.
