When I am logged into the back and of my website, running WP 5.4.1 with Enfold 4.7.4 I see at the top that there is a plugin that needs updating. I have clicked on this and when the plugin list shows up there is nothing there to be updated.

I already deactivated the layer slider so don’t think this is the problem. I have cleared all of the cache and don’t know what else this could be.
    Best,
    Jason

    Hi,
Sorry for the late reply, typically this would be the layerslider but I’m not able to recreate this on a new install so I’m not sure if they are sending the notice about an update or not. Since you have disabled the layerslider I assume you have also disabled all of your plugins to ensure it is not a different one causing this. If you are not going to use the layerslider you could use the option in the theme panel to remove it to see if that changes anything.
If the layerslider has sent the notice about an update we won’t be able to update it until our next release.

    Best regards,
    Mike

Thank you for your answer. I did remove the full option in the theme panel as well. Did you want to use the provided info to log into the sit to look at the back end? I just need to get the public IP put in the private notes to whitelist you.

i do not believe it is the advanced layerslider if you realy have the newest Enfold. Since 4.6.3 Günter implemented a check for that.
And you have to use a filter to have an update info on that:

Do you have other plugins installed? I’ve seen Yoast SEO and Wordfence trigger phantom “update plugin” notifications in WordPress. There may be others. The Yoast SEO one can be fixed with a small plugin called Hide SEO Bloat that not only removes the phantom notification, but also strips out a bunch of clutter.

I’ve also seen that notification if a plugin simply has it’s own little notice window active in its settings or similar pages.

    Hi amz,

Thank you for all of the help. As I already had the layer slider turned off the commend from amz was spot on. It was in fact Yoast SEO that was saying it needed an upgrade. They had a message to upgrade to professional, which didn’t show up in the listing of needing an actual upgrade. I temporarily turned deactivated the plugin and the update message went away.

    Thanks again!
