Hi there,
I am contacting you because I get spam through my Enfold contact form even I have Akismet installed and activated properly. That was confirmed by AUTOMATIC, after contacting them for the same issue.
I checked the web for a solution, but what I found was not useful:
*https://kriesi.at/support/topic/contact-form-sending-me-spam-messages/I don’t have that issue when I activate the recaptcha in the theme (both v2 and v3 at the same time as suggested in your docs). The thing is that I don’t want to use the recaptcha, cause it is loading on every page, instead only on pages with contact forms and this decrease the website speed.
Please, advice me what is the best solution in the described configuration.
Regards,

AleksandraJanuary 20, 2020 at 4:01 am #1176185Hi,
Thank you for the update.
We enabled version 2 of the spam protection and enabled it for the form in the Contact page. It seems to be working properly on our end. (see private field)

You might want to write to Askimet support since you don’t want to use the solution provided by the theme.
If you need further assistance please let us know.

VictoriaJanuary 20, 2020 at 9:53 pm #1176481HI Victoria,
I’ve already done it and that’s why I contacted you next. Below is their reply.
One of your colleagues suggests to use Akismet – please, see: https://kriesi.at/support/topic/contact-form-sending-me-spam-messages/#post-965654
Just now I checked the list of plugins compatible to the theme (shown on themeforest) and Akismet is not listed there.
Does that mean Enfold is not compatible to Akismet?
Thanks,

Hi,
I took a look at your contact form and it’s not clear how that form is built, so I’d suggest checking to make sure whatever form builder you used is compatible with Akismet as well.

Happiness Engineer / Pinball WizardJanuary 21, 2020 at 4:24 pm #1176813Hi,
Thank you for the update.
Looks like the Akismet plugin only checks for spams made through the comment form in the single post pages. It cannot be integrated to a different form.
he thing is that I don’t want to use the recaptcha, cause it is loading on every page, instead only on pages with contact forms and this decrease the website speed.
The spam protection in the theme will only load on pages with the contact form element. You should try v3 instead of v2.

IsmaelJanuary 22, 2020 at 5:15 pm #1177230Hi all.
Thank you for your support. I did some more tests and found out:
– When I have recaptcha v2 active – the script is loaded only on the pages having contact forms (there are 3).
– When I have recaptcha v3 active – the script is loaded on every page – I assume in order to follow the customer behavior on the website.
So now I should decide which one to use. That I additionally will explain as a case study here: https://mandalova.pro/enfold-recaptcha-akismet-compatibility/Please, consider this ticket closed!
