    Hello Kriesi Support Team

    I am working on a website. You helped me with a code a while ago to default to the first category in the portfolio grid view — rather than showing ‘all’. For some reason this now stopped working on the translation with WPML. It works on the default language (German) but not on the English translation.

    German Langauge Version –> scroll down to ‘Referenzen’ — Default to first Category is working

    home

    English Language Version –> scroll down to ‘References’ — Default to first Category is not working

    So far I haven’t been able to find why. Would appreciate any help.

    Hey Corina,

    Thanks for giving us admin access and we apologize for the delayed response.
    The problem seems to be coming from the minification of hummingbird plugin.
    If I go to the english version and right click (any part of your site) and select Inspect Element, then choose Console, I would see this error:

    Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined

    If I click on hummingbird > see this page unminified, the js error is fixed.
    The german version doesn’t have this js error.

    Hi Nikko

    Thanks for the explanation. But what does this mean? I can’t use the plugin? Is there a fix? Do I need to contact Hummingbird? Does it mean Hummingbird is not compatible with WPML?

    Appreciate your help in understanding how to solve this. Thanks so much.

    Hi Corina,

    I’m not very familiar with hummingbird plugin.
    I think you can still use the plugin but maybe disable minification for js files and it’s more likely to work fine.

    Hey Nikko

    I am following up with this, as I now have a clean install without hummingbird and it still does not apply the default to first sort category function in the English translation.

    — correction it does apply but it takes ages to load the script in the english translation.

    install is now on domain below.

    Any idea why? Would appreciate help as I am at a loss.

    Hi Corina,

    I tried to test it again several times in different browsers (to make sure it’s not cached) and it seems to be working fine.
    It seems to be fixed now, it shows up Investment Properties under References properly and the script was loaded as soon as the page was loaded and there’s no js error.
