    Hi,

I try to add a flag with an external link to the already existing wpml flags (german and english).
I did research in the forums of WPML and discovered a very new post of 2019, which says, that a given code to do this, is not working in enfold.
    The post is here:
    https://wpml.org/forums/topic/link-one-language-to-a-different-domain/

Could you please help me with the issue?

Thank you so much for your support.

    Best regards,
    Christina

I just had a chat with the WPML support. They gave me code, which worked for a few seconds.
Then, it switched back to link to an (of course not existing) brazilian Homepage – which I need to link to an external url.

The WPML support said, it is caused by a custom language switcher of the theme.

Could you please please help me with the issue?

    Best regards,
    Christina

    I really getting mad now.

I installed a plugin for redirecting. Its working fine – except there is an “u” before the correct url.
This also showed up, when the code from WPLM was working for a few seconds – it linked to the external url, but with an unwanted “u” in front of the url.

This is an unpleasant situation. I really do need help!

    Best regards,
    Christina

    Hi guys,

after desperatly searching for a solution I finally came up with this very helpful post from Günther
    – A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO GÜNTHER – HE IS SUCH A HELPFUL SUPPORT MEMBER – AND MY HERO OF THE DAY

    The helpful post from Günther:
    https://kriesi.at/support/topic/wpml-link-one-flag-to-different-domain/

    This finally solved my problem.

But guys: I’m very sure this is a common topic for a lot of people.
It would be helpful, if there was an how to section for popular issues with WPML.

You can close this topic now.

    Regards,
    Christina

    Hi Christina,

Sorry for the late reply and thanks for the update. I’m glad that you found an answer to your question and thanks for sharing it here. We’ll look into adding more documentation for WPML specific problems as well.

I’ll go ahead and close this thread for now then, please open a new thread if you should have any further questions or problems.

    Best regards,
    Rikard
