    HI there,

    I have been using Enfold for quite some years already, enjoying it very much, but now have a strange situation. On my website, since about one month, we cannot save a page anymore – it gives a 403 forbidden access error – as soon as I add a link to a pdf file.

    I have searched the forum and found a similar problem which was solved with the latest update at the time, but I have updates these last two weeks on every last update – some other plugin problems got solved with that, but this 403 error remains. What to do?

    Hey Wabke,
    Thank you for the login, I took a look at your site and found a sample page, please see the link in the Private Content area, so I added and element and saved without error. Was your issue on just on one page? Please link to it so we can examine.

    Hi,

    Thank you for sharing the details. I checked your site and found some errors in console.

    A plugin conflict may be one of the reasons for this issue.
    To find which plugin is causing the conflict please follow these steps:

    1. Go to your plugins page > Deactivate all active Plugins
    2. Update WordPress and Enfold to the latest version if you have not.
    3. Make sure all the plugins are updated.
    4. If the problem does not persist when plugins are turned off, activate one plugin at a time and refresh until you find the plugin in conflict.

    We await the results of your plugin compatibility test.

    I tried all this before and actually waited for the latest update hoping that would solve the problem.
    I have now tried again with disabling all plugin, but no change.
    Enfold theme and all plugins are updatesd.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the feedback, I see that when a pdf link is added the page throws a 403 error, as you stated.
    I tested adding a pdf link with the media button in a text element, adding the pdf link manually, adding the pdf link in a code block element, none worked without error. What did work was shorting the link with bitly.com

    Since a 403 is a server error please ask your web host to see if there are any clues in the error log, and ensure that the file and fold permissions are correct, all folders should be 755 and all files should be 644

    Unfortunately, I couldn’t reproduce this error on my test site so it’s going to be a little trickier to solve.
