Hello,
I’m trying to combine & minify using W3 Total Cache. However, whenever I combine JS & CSS files, new ones are dynamically generated by the theme???
What’s going on? What can I do to correct it?Cheers,
Itai

Do you have file compression active in the theme? If so then please try to deactivate that.

RikardJune 7, 2019 at 3:16 pm #1108275Hi Rikard,
I did not have file compression active when I tried it. I have since put it on to see whether I could combine files that way. I only got one less CSS & one less JS file. But I digress, no, file compression was not on when I tried combining the JS & CSS via W3 Total Cache.
Thanks,

June 8, 2019 at 6:15 am #1108390Hi,
Thanks for the update, so where exactly are you seeing that the theme is generating new files when you change the settings in W3 total cache?

RikardJune 10, 2019 at 11:50 pm #1108912When I use the ‘help wizard’ to combine the CSS (it also does the same with JS files) -First I had 8 files, after combining 18, after combining again, 27. It’s like it keeps increasing every time I try to combine the CSS…
see images below:
thanks in advance,
ItaiJune 11, 2019 at 6:02 am #1109012Hi,
Thanks for the clarification, but wouldn’t that be a plugin problem then? In the screenshot I can only see one file from the theme, and that is the compressed file which contains all the styling from the theme.

RikardJune 11, 2019 at 3:02 pm #1109170Hi Rikard,
That could be. However there are 3 files from the theme. As many files as my attempts to minify manually. Notice how the template name keeps changing?
for the time being I’ve gone back to AUTO setting, as that gives me 8 instead of 27 css files, but would really love to find out what’s going on here.
Cheers,
Itai
June 12, 2019 at 5:00 am #1109337Hi,
Thank you for the update.
We haven’t encountered anything like this before, so we are not sure what could cause it. Have you tried using the theme’s minification/compression instead of W3 Total Cache’s?
Best regards,
IsmaelJune 12, 2019 at 1:54 pm #1109490Hi Ismael,
Yes, I have. The CSS count went down to 7 from 8 but that’s about it. Like I said, is seems as though these files are created dynamically and they keep multiplying every time I try to combine them.
Cheers,
Itai
