Hello,
is it possible to exclude a few pages from the maintenance mode to comply to GPDR like the Privacy Policy page, or Terms page? Or how can these pages still be displayed even though the maintenance mode is switched on?
Thank you.April 24, 2019 at 6:02 am #1093853Hey denisesl23,
It might be possible, but if users can’t use your site, then why do you need a privacy policy or terms?
Best regards,
RikardApril 24, 2019 at 8:30 am #1093886Hi Rikard,
common sense would be that if users can not access the site no privacy policy etc. is needed. But this is seen differently by lawyers in Europe. There are discussions that even a blank web-page needs links to legal documents ( as the server that delivers the blank page stores some visitor information). That is one reason. The other reason is that as soon as I have an opt-in form for users to get notified when the website is accessible again or to just send them a goodie while it is closed I do need the legal links to work.
Best regards
DeniseApril 25, 2019 at 8:03 am #1094313Hi Denise,
We don’t have that feature in our theme, however there are some plugins that have that feature, I found this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/coming-soon/ they have this feature in their pro version:
– Option to exclude specific URLs from displaying Coming Soon pageBest regards,
NikkoApril 25, 2019 at 1:59 pm #1094403Hi Nikko,
that is a pitty because without it the maintenance mode of Enfold is only of limited use as you expose yourself to potential legal problems. And you need to buy another plugin to get this working. Rikard in his answer stated that it might be possible. Even if it is not a default feature at the monment is there some code I could apply which would make it work?April 26, 2019 at 3:34 am #1094583Hi denisesl23,
The maintenance mode in Enfold is just a basic feature and doesn’t consist of excluding pages.
It might be possible with some custom codes however it would take a bit of time as well as tests are needed. I tried to check out other plugins that have this feature but doesn’t require any payment and I think this one fits: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-maintenance-mode/Best regards,
NikkoApril 28, 2019 at 1:11 pm #1095024Nikko thanks for the recommendation. Yes, that plugin allows to exclude pages but does not allow for an opt-in on the maintenance page in the free version that is why I looked into how to get the page exclusion work with Enfold ;-)
I am happy to test out any code proposal you come up with.April 28, 2019 at 2:33 pm #1095026Hi Denise
Why don’t you create the data policy and terms&conditions content on the maintenance page itself?
You have your normal countdown and form on top and then you just add an accordion with two elements (Datenschutz, AGB) below it. This can be expanded by the user and works directly at the maintenance page.No additional plugin needed and no exclusion from additional pages.
I know it’s not super pretty but maybe a good solution for you as it is temporary anyway – what do you think?Cheers
MichaelApril 28, 2019 at 4:24 pm #1095046Hi Michael, thank you for that proposal. Yes that would be a way forward but as you say it is not very pretty and does not look very professional. Also if people opt-in on the maintenance page I´d like to display a thank-you page on my website which also is not possible right now when maintenance mode is active. As you can see on this support thread a lot of good reasons are given to have an option to exclude certain pages ;-)
April 28, 2019 at 4:49 pm #1095048Then move all the pages which users should not see to a subdomain such as preview.yoursite.com and activate the maintenance mode there.
Your main page (yoursite.com) only has the page with the countdown, the form and the GDPR stuff afterwards so you do not need to protect it with the maintenance mode as there is nothing else to see.Issue solved :)
April 29, 2019 at 1:12 am #1095123Hi denisesl23,
Please try michaelH ‘s workaround it should work just fine.
I think another workaround is to use htaccess redirect (and exclude redirection on your privacy policy pages).
This page might help with the code: http://www.webweaver.nu/html-tips/web-redirection.shtml@michaelH thanks for helping out :)
Best regards,
NikkoApril 29, 2019 at 11:12 am #1095219Hi Nikko, as I said above the workaround looks not very professional. I´d rather prefer a solution using Enfold’s functionality. However I understand that you do not offer that functionality at the moment and obviously have no experienced coder around who has a quick solution to exclude a few pages from the maintenance mode. I hope you can implement this in the future as now – using the Enfold maintenance mode – may turn into an expensive lawsuit in Europe.

Unfortunately we are not able to provide what you need, we can try suggest this feature though.
For now, I think the workaround are the solutions we can provide, another one I think is use a redirect plugin which redirects pages to your coming soon page and not include the privacy policy pages.Best regards,
Nikko -
