    Hi, I’ve just updated to latest WP, theme and all plugins on 2x Enfold sites.

    On both of them, when I try to select classic editor in theme options, it won’t save the setting. I get a message saving didn’t work please try again. I have refreshed and tried again several times.

    I think because of this, the news posts are not toggling well between advanced/default layout and I also think it’s also causing problem that post excerpt is not feeding through to my news page… please advise.

    Hey andrea,

    Please post us your login credentials (in the “private data” field), so we can take a look at your backend.

    1. Install and activate ” Temporary Login Without Password “.
    2. Go to ” Users > Temporary Logins ” on the left-side menu.
    3. Click ” Create New “.
    4. Add the email address for the account ( you can use (Email address hidden if logged out) ), as well as the ” Role ” making that the highest possible and the expiry about four days
      ( do be sure that we have enough time to debug ).
    5. Click ” Submit “.
    6. You’ll now have a temporary account. Please provide us here in the private section the URL, so we can login and help you out.

    When your issue is fixed, you can always remove the plugin!
    If you prefer to not use the plugin, you can manually create an admin user and post the login credentials in the “private data” field.

    Hi,

    Thanks for that, I’m getting the same results on my end. I can see that you are getting a 403 error on the file in private, I’m not sure why the server would respond in that way though. Could you try reaching out to your hosting provider to see if they know why that is happening please?

    I am liaising with the hosts. They’re still looking into it but have flagged up a fatal error on the theme, see private content.

    this has worked fine on other sites on alternative hosting, but since I updated these two, there are just a few niggles. Today I noticed that editing posts now won’t update. See private content

    UPDATE – hosts have disabled ModSecurity for both domains and can this has resolved some of the issues.

    1. we can now select ‘Classic editor’ so that’s now done on both sites
    2. we can now update / publish posts on both sites

    However, where the post has been written in advanced layout editor, the automatic excerpt is not coming through to the news page. Even if we have the MORE tag in. See private content for links/examples.

    Hi,

    Great, thanks for the update. When creating posts using the Layout Builder then everything needs to be added manually to it, including the excerpt. If you can’t see the excerpt field then select to show it under Screen Options in the top right hand corner of the screen.

    Thanks for clarifying – I definitely have posts written before the update in advanced layout builder which have an auto excerpt in the blog feed, but it explains why the new ones don’t work. I’ve added excerpts now and all good :-)
