I’m attempting a manual update to 4.5.5, but get blank white screen. Running WP 5.1.1
Hey hostworks,
Sorry for the late reply, first please check that your PHP is at least v5.6, then try following these steps to update via FTP:
First download the theme from Theme Forest.
Then open it and extract the “enfold.zip” file and then extract it to your desktop as /enfold/
Then rename to /enfold-new/ and upload the folder to your /wp-content/themes/ folder via FTP or your file manager in your webhost cPanel
Then via FTP or your cPanel file manager, at /wp-content/themes/ rename /enfold/ to /enfold-old/ and rename /enfold-new/ to /enfold/
Now your new version is installed, please check your site. If all is well then “Good Job!” If not then reverse the last rename step above and your site will be restored.
If you still have trouble then Please include an admin login & FTP access in the Private Content area so we can assist.
Best regards,
Mike
Mike, thanks.
It is running PHP Version 5.6.31.
I took exactly those steps.I’m going to try again, and I’ll get back to you.
Just tried again..creds below
Hi,
Thank you for the admin login, I see that you have a security plugin, I would recommend disabling it before renaming the themes to test the new version. Since you are having these troubles I would disable all of them to test. Also please ask your webhost what errors have occurred in your server log when you tried renaming the themes. Typically you can tell them about what time you did this and they can find the error in the log, this would be a big help because it is very seldom that doing the steps that I outlined above result in a crash, and the wrong PHP is the only thing I can think of that would cause this, but you already checked this.
Best regards,
Mike
