edit woocommerce file in child theme / variation html table

hi!

first of all, thanks for this amazing theme!

i want to change the table layout of the woocommerce variation tabel in the file
/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/templates/single-product/add-to-cart/variable.php

i am using a child theme

i placed a copy of the variable.php in my child-theme folder
/wp-content/themes/enfold-child/woocommerce/templates/single-product/add-to-cart/variable.php
, made the changes, saved the file and the changes are not visible.the original file is still loading.
i thought about using the display:grid option, but there is a chance, internet explorer users will visit the page… ;(

how do i change the file, without loosing the changes after an update?

another (completely optional) wish/question:
is it possible to change the “choose an option” value of the variation table to the name of the variation?
something like “choose your size” or “choose yout color” …
