Is there a way to show the updated date (each time you update a post) in Google through this theme, instead of showing the date the article was published?

You can use the get modified date (https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_the_modified_date) and then edit the php file that produces the layout you want to edit.

Yes – I’m hoping to show the date on the blog post as when I updated the post, not when I originally published the post. This is for each individual post.
For example, if you google “how do you plan your parent’s date night”, my article comes up within the top 3 (FrugalConfessions.com). But the date is February 18, 2019 on it. I’ve updated it since then.
