Not sure why this is happening. Jpegs are working fine. .PNGs are not working at all.

1. When a .PNG is uploaded is it usual that I can only see a greyed out box in my media library, as opposed a thumbnail of the image?
2. Are .PNG files compatible with full-page sliders? Because if they are not, I might as well just convert to .jpeg files.Kind regards,

PNG images are fully supported and they should not result in any grey boxes etc. If you need further help then let us know where we can reproduce the problem.

Thanks for that, I get the same problem on my end unfortunately. I see that your server is responding with a 503 error on several resources on the upload page. Since this is core WordPress functionality and the problem is coming from the server then I would advice you to contact your hosting provider about the problem, they should be able to fix this for you.
