    Hi Mike,

With a little help from a friend I was able to update both websites.

But I have a question. I work with both sites with a child theme.
One site I created a child theme with a plugin.
the other side I have a child theme form enfold (do not know how I did this).
The child theme is version 1.0.

So I updated my parent themes. How do my child theme get the update?
There is in the dashboard a home icon for the child theme and there is the possibly to overwrite thing?

can you help me with this?

    thanks a lot

    Hey missbluesky,

You don’t have to update child themes, that is the whole point of them; to override the parent. The only time you would have to update a child would be if your overrides are not working anymore.

    Hi Rikard,

So if I understand this well. I child theme is a copy of a theme, there are no update changes.
when I update the parent theme nothing changes in the child theme?
so wy do I have to update the parent theme? there is nu influence for the child theme?

Sorry, I try to understand this :)

    thanks for your help.

    kind regards hanneke

    Hi,

No, a child theme is not a copy of a theme, it’s there to override the parent theme like I stated previously. You update the parent theme because that is the actual theme which you are running. It might not be the active theme, but in reality almost all functionality comes from the parent.

    Best regards,
