Hey there – Anyw way around the Envato download limit.
I’m going through updating to 4.5.1 and all running successfully with WP5. Thank you! Only issue I have now is Envato have stopped me from downloading as there is a limit of 20 downloads per 24 hours, and, according to the support ticket I just received back a MAX. of 50 all up??
I presently have 43 licences for Enfold and will be purchasing more in future.
I know it is an Envato support issue (their support just sent me to one of their FAQs) but wondering if there’s a way around accessing the update any other way. Cannot do the normal way via Envato API token in backend OR cannot download any of my purchases of Enfold in my enfold acccount.
Is there a way around (accessing 4.5.1) in the interim so I don’t have to delay updating until the limit clears in 24 hours.
December 9, 2018 at 2:36 am #1042640Following – great topic.
I believe I had the exact same issue (some error messages while updating from Enfold 4.5 to 4.5.1, but just after 5 times using the Envato API on the same day. This must have been in between 2 hours or something, so after 4-5 attempts the update failed for some reason.
Also very curious to know why that is and if there a way to solve that.
December 11, 2018 at 5:30 am #1043543Hi,
If I understand correctly, you are updating your sites through the backend of your sites and Envato has limited your account?
Another solution would be to update your sites via FTP, Please note that if you update via FTP, you will need to remove the old theme folder “enfold” first (via FTP) then upload the new “enfold” folder at /wp-content/themes/enfold/
Please don’t try to overwrite the theme folder, as this will leave old files behind and cause errors.Or try using the Update Theme and Plugins from Zip File plugin that will allow you to manually update via the WordPress theme panel by uploading the enfold.zip file.
*Please ensure your “PHP Max Upload Size” is at least 20mb, because Enfold is 17.9mb.Best regards,
MikeDecember 11, 2018 at 10:29 pm #1044006Hey Mike – yes – however I can’t do via ftp either. I can’t access the theme zip file at all – via my Envato account or otherwise – due to this limit. I suppose I could go into one of my other installs that I’ve already done – zip – and download – and use on the next install – but a bit cumbersome.
The annoying thing is I know for a fact I haven’t downloaded it 20 times within the 24 hour period. Super werid. But I still get the “exceeded download limit’ error in my Envato downloads list and in WP backend.
Since sending this in I have contacted Envaot support again requesting the limit be lifted but have not heard back from them.
Just worrying if you release a security update for the theme some time in the future and there’s no way to update all installs I have quickly – or at all.
I see you have your hands full with other forum threads so this is in no way urgent as there’s workarounds but would be great to get a workaround somehow.
December 12, 2018 at 4:14 am #1044096Hi,
Thank you for the feedback, I believe that I understand your situation better now, even though you could download the theme file once to your computer, and manually update all of your sites then, this would be cumbersome.Perhaps updating all of your sites remotely would be easier, with a dashboard such as WP Remote which is free. But there are others that may even work better for your needs.
What I found exciting is that you can config it to call a GitHub repository to update your theme instead of Envato, so you would not be limited when updating your 50 or more sites.
You could download the update from Envato and upload it to your private GitHub, then login to your remote dashboard that will show all of your sites and click update once for all of them.Best regards,

Thanks for the screenshot, this problem might be caused by something in the theme unfortunately. Would be able to provide us with login details so that we can have a closer look? Also, are we allowed to activate debug mode and check the theme logs for clues?
Best regards,
RikardDecember 19, 2018 at 1:30 pm #1047174Any updates on this? I have the same message on all my Enfold downloads on Envatos Themeforest for some time now.
Envato Support gave me this answer:
we don’t actually create any of the items sold on Envato Market, and because of this, we can’t help with questions that are specific to individual items. To receive assistance for this item, you’ll need to contact the author.
Thank you.
ThomasDecember 19, 2018 at 2:04 pm #1047183Hi Thomas
That’s really strange, I don’t have this issue.
Which error message do you actually get and where? If you go to https://build.envato.com, sign in there, generate a token and give permissions to it, insert it into your Enfold backend field – that does not work?
Cheers
MichaelDecember 19, 2018 at 2:08 pm #1047184Hi,
We have just released Enfold v4.5.2 which includes a patch for the updater that in some cases was pinging the Envato API too often, and may have been triggering the download limit.Best regards,
MikeJanuary 3, 2019 at 2:39 am #1049418Hey there Mike – I’ve uploaded via the zip file above and settings now successfully showing 4.5.1 – but I see now there’s 4.5.2 – when I ‘check for updates’ it says ‘theme is up to date’ – refer to screen shot in private content.
So is it possible to get 4.5.2 via zip file again as per above so I can update and move forward with this. I cannot download from my Envato account to access and have no other way of doing so.
