Hi,
I was not able to enter a Google Maps API, so I had to update the Enfold theme. I’ve updated the Enfold theme via FTP, but now the entire website is down and can’t access wp-admin! 500 error and nothing happens.
I’ve upgraded to PHP7.2 and deactivated all plugins (change folder name), but still can’t access site login or website.
Could you please help me out? Thanks!
Kind regards,
Paul

November 27, 2018 at 6:28 pm #1038111Hi,
Can you please check server log for error?
Here is how to find it: http://snapcreek.com/blog/wordpress-error-log-friend/

VictoriaNovember 27, 2018 at 8:21 pm #1038186Hi Victoria,
Did you take a look at the website? The only thing I get is a 500 error, so I guess it’s too late for debugging. I’ve added debug to wpconfig, but don’t see the debug.log file in the wp-content folder.
Best regards,
Paul
November 28, 2018 at 5:22 pm #1038615Hi Paul,
I checked your site and noticed that display_errors is disabled on your site.
Even though you have enabled wp debug as well as logging it still doesn’t produce any logs.
Please enable it first, your site will produce logs which will give us information of what’s causing the issue and try to fix the issue.
Here is a post showing how to display errors: https://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/website/php-troubleshooting/troubleshoot-php-errors
However it differs from each hosting, you may ask your hosting provider for assistance.Best regards,
NikkoNovember 29, 2018 at 9:42 am #1038850Hi Nikko,
That didn’t work either.
I’ve placed a backup of the website on another domain to test it. In the private content you’ll find all the credentials. I don’t get a 500 error, but the website is not showing, only the header. When I update the theme (I already tried it), I get the 500 error again. I don’t know what to do now, because even with a backup I can’t get the website working again!
What I did:
– upgraded to php 7.2
– disabled all pluginsPlease check what is wrong with the theme. Thanks!

December 6, 2018 at 2:08 pm #1041657Hi,
Thank you, I updated your theme, I’m seeing no errors, Please clear your browser cache and check that all is working correctly, once you are satisfied you can delete the folder “enfold-old” in /wp-content/themes/ via ftp.Best regards,
MikeDecember 9, 2018 at 10:38 am #1042704HI Mike,
Thank you. How did you manage to update the theme? I noticed that it worked and updated WordPress to WP 5.0, but now the wp-admin receives an error and can’t login anymore.
Could you please check again? Thanks
Best,
Paul
December 9, 2018 at 6:27 pm #1042781Hi,
I updated your theme by uploading it via your cpanel file manager, it is strange that you updating to WP 5 would cause this crash.
Perhaps the update didn’t finish and some of the core files are not correct? I was able to get your front end to show, but not the backend.
I see that you are using duplicator-pro, so you could try to replace the WP core files, or replace the whole site.
Do you have a duplicator-pro backup?Best regards,
MikeDecember 16, 2018 at 12:20 pm #1045866Hi Mike,
I didn’t manage to login anymore, so I’ve replaced the whole site with a backup. I tried to update to theme myself (installing Enfold via FTP), but when I changed themes (to the new one), the website styling was gone. I’ve imported the theme settings, but that didn’t help.
I’ve replaced the website again with a backup, so basically we are back to the old Enfold theme. Could you please update the theme again see I you can update WP afterwards? And can you tell me how you updated the Enfold theme? Thanks Mike.
Best regards,
Paul
December 16, 2018 at 3:25 pm #1045915Hi,
When I looked at your site today, it was not loading correctly, it had many 400 (Bad Request), so I tracked it down to your “bwp-minify” plugin, which I renamed to disable, and then your site loaded correctly. I then renamed back and left disabled, and disabled a few other plugins such as your caching, login limit, and user roles. Just to limit the chance of errors.I then saved a copy of your theme settings, quick css, and dynamic_avia folder with your css. Then I uploaded Enfold v4.5.1 and renamed your old theme to “enfold-old”.
So everything was fine after the theme update, but when I tried to update WordPress to v5 you got a “Internal Server Error” and in your cPanel the error is that your account has been limited due to resource usage. Your server had be running at 51% cpu & 50% memory, updating WordPress seems to have pushed it too much and your host limited your account so the update doesn’t finish and brakes the core files. That is what I believe.
I recommend updating your hosting plan.
Best regards,
MikeDecember 16, 2018 at 4:11 pm #1045937Hi Mike,
Thanks for all your help. I’m totally lost here – I’ve placed a backup of the website on another domain for test purposes and tried to first update WP to 5.0. I first disabled almost all plugins and then updated to 5.0, but again the 500 error. In CPanel I don’t see any resource problems and set the php memory to max. So I doesn’t seem to have to do with the hosting plan (as I also updated many other website to 5.0 on the same plan).
What else can I try to make it work? Do you have any idea?
Thanks,
Paul
