Hi Rikard,
I have tried to update manually via FTP to 4.5 several times, but each time the site breaks and my child theme edits don’t appear. I usually use Child Theme Configurator to set up the child theme. I have a number of Enfold parent theme sites that need updating. Perhaps you could help me do this and then explain ALL the steps so I can do it for myself? I’ve followed all the links for manually updating via FTP but I always end up with a child theme conflict.
Site information is in private content.
Thanks!
Gabe
Here is how I finally got it all to work
There is a problem with Envato and this requires a different way of updating for this version. Here is how I did it and it worked fine for me:
the easiest and quickest way to update to v4.5 is if you have CPanel access to your site:
1. Download the “Installable WordPress file only” from your Themeforest account
2. Login to your website’s CPanel – normally found at yourwebsite.com/cpanel
3. Open File Manager and navigate to the \wp-content\themes\ directory of your website
4. Rename the Enfold folder to Enfold-old
5. Upload the ZIP file you downloaded in step 1 to \wp-content\themes\
6. Extract the ZIP file you uploaded in step 5 to \wp-content\themes\
7. Delete the ZIP file you uploaded in step 5
When you check your website’s WordPress admin you will be updated to v4.5.
The previous version of Enfold will still be there – you can delete this if you are happy that the update has worked okay.
Hi Gabe,
Thanks to @elames for sharing his finding, did you try those steps out @connect4consulting? We can help you out updating, but if the update breaks your child theme then it might be better to update on a staging version first so that you won’t compromise your production site?
Best regards,
Rikard
