I hired a supposed wp expert and he made an extensive robots.txt file
https://www.buddhistmala.com/robots.txt awhile back and altered my yoast settings in May, in June we began to tank.
Can someone check to see if that why out site seems to have some coding error
We lost 80% traffic in mobile and 50% out backlinks and falling, we are about to close :(
Some parameter or some block of the robots text and is not visible in mobile
can you have someone double check for us?

First of all: nice website/shop!
Regarding your robots.txt file I assume this can cause some issues – as it is duplicated. First you have stuff for the Googlebot only and afterwards for all bots:
User-agent: Googlebot ... User-agent: * ...
It has two times the exact same /disallow parameters.
Do you have the chance to edit the robots.txt file directly over (S)FTP for example?Best,
MichaelOctober 27, 2018 at 3:16 pm #1027047Yes I can edit it in Yoast and then check it for errors in webmaster tools, with the new mobile first, I think having disallows in the file can cause some problems, from WEBCEO:
“Hi Dawn – We’re starting to believe that Disallows in robots.txt are hurting a number of customers and even we are removing are own disallows on Monday”
What do you all use, should I strip it back to the enfold factory reset version?

What do you all use? here is what our seo guy included, but I think this “beefy” of a file is causing us to loose indexing, rank and links to us are dropping, presumably since they are broken. https://www.rankya.com/assets/robots.zipOctober 27, 2018 at 3:24 pm #1027050In my opinion you should have a robots.txt file like this. Simply 2 lines:
User-agent: * Sitemap: https://www.buddhistmala.com/sitemap_index.xml
October 27, 2018 at 4:11 pm #1027070Yes we are going to strip it down. Thanks, will update.
October 27, 2018 at 6:26 pm #1027141Hi SakuraD,
Did you get it working for you?
Best regards,
VictoriaOctober 27, 2018 at 7:45 pm #1027179No, we still have a giant code blocking robots and htaccess file and no SEO developer who works on a Saturday to fix it for us, any SEO developer in the USA willing to help me, right now?
We can’t just carelessly reset the robots and htaccess to wp/ endolds default otherwise we might get the “spider trap” as referenced above.
For others, please note with Googles Mobile index first, you will want to have a very very simple non blocking robots file now, but it has to be created carefully. The good news is that after 4 months of loosing links rank, indexing and sales, we think we found what we had done wrong! :)

October 29, 2018 at 4:30 pm #1027617Ok, Google themselves replied on webmaster forum and some of our errors are template baled, this is URGENT, please forward these stats to Kreisi
Your website represents an online store and offers online payments, so it falls into the category Your Money Or Your Life – YMYL and must meet the requirements Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness – EAT.Check how your website meets these requirements:
* The website does not have explicitly stated and complete information about your business.
* The website has no information about the person or organization responsible for the content of the website and each of its web pages.
* The website does not have explicitly stated customer service information.
* The website has the low download speed for mobile = 13,038 seconds.
* The website has problems with mobile-friendly: 14 page resources couldn’t be loaded.
* The home page has structured data that does not represent the main content of this web page. Moreover, these structured data markup have too many types = 7 items and 5 errors. Probably, this structured data can be ignored by Google and unavailable in the rich results of Google.
* The homepage has the invalid html and the critical error such as the fatal error. (WTC3)
Thus, your website is currently not meeting the requirements Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness – EAT and this may cause the drop in search rank.
October 30, 2018 at 11:07 pm #1028260Hi,
The feedback that google provide is valid yes, but unfortunately it is not basic on our theme, but with the changes you have done.
To help you a bit more.Regarding 1,2 that is related to Google Business or Google Profile. A plugin like Yoast SEO can solve it.
As of 3 – not a clue what they are talking about.
For mobile speed – yes but you should hide some of the elements on mobile. Google does not want everything to be visible. Now some of the other changes should also be done with plugins as the theme is not required to load all those things inside…
SEO Optimisation is a bit more than just enabling a template, so extra help should be considered for sure.

BasilisOctober 31, 2018 at 4:20 am #1028359On our homepage slider
we checked the box for hide on mobile in the avia editor deleted cache and the sliders are still appearing on mobile, please advise. For mobile speed – yes but you should hide some of the elements on mobile.
November 5, 2018 at 4:43 am #1029745Hi,
Are you referring to the slider’s Screen Options panel? Please provide a screenshot of the option. Make sure that the site is running on Enfold v4.5 and WordPress 4.9.8.
Best regards,
IsmaelJanuary 19, 2019 at 10:10 pm #1055974I think the Enfold should update the code to be super fast on mobile and not have all of these errors
