Edit: actually, the issue seems to be more than just styling. No events are showing up in the Events Calendar plug-in widgets (Events Countdown, Upcoming Events). These elements just remain empty, no matter what dates I use for the events. Is this somehow related to installing WP in a subdirectory?

Correction: this has been resolved. The issue now is simply styling.

Edit 2: I’ve verified that “The Events Calendar” plugin is working correctly on the site by swapping the active theme to a WordPress “twenty-something” theme. The events show up and the styling issues are resolved. Therefore, I believe this to be problem specific to the Enfold theme. Please advise.

    Original post:

Hello. Building a new site using Enfold and downloaded the Church Demo as a starting place. I installed and activated the free version of The Events Calendar plug-in, as required by the demo. Everything is working more or less but we are seeing some funky styling in our version.

For example, here is the events list in our site. (No site modification or customization applied yet.)

    Church Demo with Problematic Styling

And here is the same page as shown on your demo site:

    Original Church Demo Styling

I’m not sure how to approach fixing this, or to know what might be going wrong. The Events Calendar display settings are even missing the expected template settings when used with the Enfold theme (assume you have overridden this?).

The only slightly unusual thing about our site is that we have installed WordPress in its own subdirectory. However, everything else is working fine after setting up the correct URLs and installing an index.php file in our site’s HTML root.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

    Hi,

Unfortunately, it would require quite some time and customization of the theme to achieve this, so I am sorry to tell you that this is not covered by our support. However, if it’s really important for you to get this done, you can always hire a freelancer to do the job for you :)

    Best regards,

    Hi Basilis, thanks for responding.

Unfortunately, I find this well short of acceptable. I paid for you theme to make specific use of the Church template, only to find that when installed on a brand new site, its appearance does not match what is shown in your demo. Further, your theme overrides the default display options normally provided by The Events Calendar plug-in, along with making various other undocumented changes to the plug-in’s CSS, so that there is no simple way to perform theming through the UI.

I believe my purchase entitles me to 6 months of support in the use of your product. I don’t expect you to write code for me, but I expect at least a timely acknowledgement of the issue, and some assistance in knowing how to approach a fix. Instead, I get no response for more than 3 days, and the response is simply “you’re on your own”? That is no way to treat a paying customer.

As it turns out, I will just fix this on my own by overriding your CSS in a child theme, but I’ve to spend a lot more time researching this fix than was necessary had there been some simple help available through your forum. I am quite disappointed.

I strongly suggest that you update your Church Demo to address the issues encountered when using the current version of the Events Calendar. Right now, your CSS is busted.

    Hi garyvot,

I think I have sent a reply to you on another thread, but please post us your login credentials (in the “private data” field), so we can take a look at your backend.

    1. Install and activate ” Temporary Login Without Password “.
    2. Go to ” Users > Temporary Logins ” on the left-side menu.
    3. Click ” Create New “.
    4. Add the email address for the account ( you can use (Email address hidden if logged out) ), as well as the ” Role ” making that the highest possible and the expiry about four days
( do be sure that we have enough time to debug ).
    5. Click ” Submit “.
    6. You’ll now have a temporary account. Please provide us here in the private section the URL, so we can login and help you out.

When your issue is fixed, you can always remove the plugin!
If you prefer to not use the plugin, you can manually create a admin user and post the login credentials in the “private data” field.

    Best regards,
    Nikko
