I received a notification from my DreamHost folks that they detected a possible infection and I need to know if this is a known issue that could throw a warning like this, or if I might actually have a problem. Here’s the text of what they sent me:
The following files/directories had insecure permissions (777), which have been remediated:
/home/jonand58/gatehealing.com/wp-content/uploads/dynamic_avia
They suggest that I change my wordpress password (done) and that I change my database password (will be done as soon as I figure out how, and the other things they say may be impacted by that change).
Do y’all know anything about the permissions they are referring to? What is that “dynamic_avia” upload? Should I change anything else in my files?
Thanks,
Jon
Hey gatehealing,
Well, that folder is the place where Enfold writes it’s merged css file and so it has to be writable. You can change it back to 655 and see it works.
Best regards,
Victoria
What is the consequence of changing it to 655? Will I need to change it back to 777 if I update child css, or when I update the theme, etc?
Thanks,
Jon
Hi Jon,
NO, you will not have to change it back to 777. 655 is a bit more secure option for folder permissions.
Best regards,
Victoria
Great, thanks!
