Hi,
Since the theme update cannot be done via the WP admin, I updated my site via FTP.
I replaced all the parent theme files with the latest version theme files.
The upload was successful and the site worked fine in the front-end.
However, I was unable to access the WP admin backend after the update. Any idea why this would be happening and how to fix it?
Right now, the site is restored back to the original files.

If I understand correctly, right now the site has been restored, so you can login to the WP admin area?
I ask because when I look at the source code of your site it looks like you have v4.4.1 installed, our latest version?
When you couldn’t login did you get any error messages?
From your explanation the first thing I think of is it sounds like you tried to overwrite your parent theme with the update via ftp when you should delete the parent theme and then install the new parent theme so that some old unused files are not left behind. That is files that are not in the new theme, and may cause errors.
We have been testing the Update Theme and Plugins from Zip File plugin, and it preforms these steps making it possible to update the theme from the theme panel with a zip file.
Perhaps it will be easier for you also.
I do recommend making a backup first, just because it’s good practice.Best regards,

Yes, I went back and figured this out on my own so that is why you are saying the latest version of Enfold now on the site.
The problem was actually being caused by some php files in the newer theme files.
The files were events_upcoming.php and events_countdown.php which are all related to The Events Calendar plugin.
In order to fix this, I had to install that plugin so that those files would no longer cause a 500 error and I was able to access the WP admin and my landing pages were no longer broken.
Thank you!
