    I am moving a website to Enfold and when I try to replicate things I am having some problems. one of them is the structure for the portfolio.

    If all images does not have the exact same size, exact title characters and exact extract, the portfolio is not symmetrical, it shows everything with different sizes.

    The idea is to have this: https://kriesi.at/themes/enfold/portfolio/

    No matter the length of the title, the image size or the extract. The idea is to have an equal distributed portfolio. How can I fix this ?

    Thank you.

    Hey peterolle,

    Can you show us what you’ve got so far? If there’s too much text we can make the taller box for that but for all items. Images might be cropped to be the same size, images of different sizes will not work here.

    Best regards,
    Victoria

    Hi peterolle,

    Could you please give us a link to your website, we need more context to be able to help you.

    Well, like I said, the images have to be the same size.

    Best regards,
    Victoria

    As you can imagine I am developing the site locally, as nothing is working properly and I have to redo it completely.

    But you can see the problem perfectly in the screenshot, my current theme displays all images and texts perfectly in the same size and space between them and enfold does not. That is what I am trying to fix.

    I can’t edit 4000 images to have the same height and width. I need them to display correctly.

    Thank you.

    Hi peterolle,

    Without expecting the page and seeing your portfolio entries I cannot even tell what the issue is, unfortunately.

    Please get back to us when you get the website to some testing server.

    Best regards,
    Victoria

    The attachment shows you 2 things.

    1- Actual website showing portfolio items, all with the same image size, all with the same space between them and all with the title and extract distributed equally.

    2- Enfold showing portfolio items, all with different image size, space not equal because of that, titles and extracts not distributed equally.

    That is the issue.

    How can I make Enfold portfolio show everything equally distributed?

    Thank you.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the clarification.

    Have you tried to set the element’s “Portfolio Grid Image Size” to the second option? It will give you access to the available thumbnails. I think the grid looks like that because the grid using the original image instead of the generated portfolio thumbnails. Did you upload featured images with different sizes?

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    #1002163

    I actually have it choosing image size and no matter which option I select, it always shows like that.

    Yes, all images have different sizes but that should not be a problem.

    How can I fix it to show correctly ?

    Thank you.

    #1002260

    Hi,

    I’m not really sure why the grid resizes like that in your installation. We need to inspect the markup first. Please update us once the site is live.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    #1002280

    Sure, please see the info.

    #1002479

    Hi,

    Thanks for the update. The grids are not using the “portfolio” thumbnail. Please provide the login details in the private field so that we can check it further.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the update.

    I checked the “add_image_size” function and it turned out that the “crop” parameter now defaults to “false” instead of “true”. Please install the following plugin and then go to the Settings > Media panel. Tick the “crop” parameter of the “portfolio” and “portfolio_small” thumbnail, update, save and then regenerate the thumbnails. This will crop or resize the images to the exact specified dimension.

    // https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-image-sizes/

    add_image_size function: https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/functions/add_image_size/

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Can you please elaborate a bit what I need the function for, share the exact function I need and confirm that I just need too add it to the functions.php file?

    1- Install the plugin, go to Settings > Media panel. Tick the “crop” parameter of the “portfolio” and “portfolio_small” thumbnail, update, save and then regenerate the thumbnails.

    2- ???

    Thank you.

    #1004050

    Hi,

    You don’t need to add any function. I just informed you about the changes regarding the add_image_size function, which is responsible for the size of the thumbnails. Please install the Simple Image Sizes plugin then go to the Settings > Media panel. You’ll see a list of thumbnails there. Look for the “portfolio” and “portfolio_small” thumbnail, tick or enable their “crop” parameter, update, save and then regenerate the thumbnails. Let us know if it’s still confusing.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Cropping set to yes and tick Show in post insertion ?

    Everything else set to NO ?

    I don’t want to end with 2 million extra images. After this I can delete the plugin, correct ?

    Thank you.

    #1004769

    Hi,

    Leave the default options and just tick or enable the crop parameter of the specified thumbnails above (“portfolio” and “portfolio_small”).
    Yes, you can delete the plugin after regenerating the thumbnails. If you want to test it first, edit one or two of the portfolio thumbnails, remove the current featured image and then re-upload it. You may need to remove the images directly in the Media > Library panel.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    Hi,

    What do you mean by “post insertion”? You’ll find the thumbnail sizes in the Settings > Media panel.

    Hi,

    I see. No, you don’t need to enable that. Just enable the crop parameter of the “portfolio” and “portfolio_small” thumbnails and then regenerate the thumbnails.

    It happened. I have now new thousands of images I don’t need for anything.

    And of course the site looks the same, wrong.

    It went through a stores directory images, logos, images for normal posts and so on. None of them from the portfolio items…

    Please see attached for my settings when regenerating them.

    1- Can I just go through the FTP and delete all that created images I don’t need ?
    2- How to properly make this work.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

    I created a test portfolio item, re-uploaded the image of the “Aequidens Rivulatus” and then used it as the featured image. This particular item is using the “portfolio_small” thumbnail with its actual size (260x185px). The original “Aequidens Rivulatus” portfolio item, which is the very first item in the grid, is still using the full size thumbnail. Are you sure that thumbnails are regenerated? Please check the “Test” portfolio item at the very end of the page. (see private field)

    The plugin should delete the existing thumbnails and regenerate another. Yes, you can manually delete the images.

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    #1005936

    The problem here is that I will not upload again 500 items, this has to be done “as expected when using a new theme” with the current site, images and data, not a new one.

    New items will work. Cool.

    I need to fix the actual published portfolio ones.

    Please let me know how.

    Also, can I just go through the FTP and delete all that created images by the plugin ?

    Thank you.

    #1005990

    Hi,

    Please create a site backup and then we’ll try to regenerate the thumbnails using the plugin.
    Yes, you can delete the images via FTP.

    By the way, deleting all the images via FTP left me with the site with no images in some portfolio items.

    So the plugin modifies the database as well ?

    Is there anything else I need to check ?

    The tricky thing here is that if I go to the actual portfolio item, it has an image, so please let me know how to fix that portfolio items.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

    I am currently regenerating 2900++ thumbnails. We’ll give you an update once it is done. Please add this code in the functions.php file.

    /**
     * Set sizes atribute for responsive images and better performance
     * @param  array        $attr       markup attributes
     * @param  object       $attachment WP_Post image attachment post
     * @param  string|array $size       named image size or array
     * @return array        markup attributes
     */
    function avf_responsive_img_sizes( $attr, $attachment, $size ) {
        if ( is_array( $size ) ) {
            $attr['sizes'] = $size[0] . 'px';
        } elseif ( $size == 'widget') {
            $attr['sizes'] = '36px';
        } elseif ( $size == 'square') {
            $attr['sizes'] = '180px';
        } elseif ( $size == 'featured') {
            $attr['sizes'] = '1500px';
        } elseif ( $size == 'featured_large') {
            $attr['sizes'] = '1500px';
        } elseif ( $size == 'extra_large' ) {
            $attr['sizes'] = '1500px';
        } elseif ( $size == 'portfolio' ) {
            $attr['sizes'] = '495px';
        } elseif ( $size == 'portfolio_small' ) {
            $attr['sizes'] = '260px';
        } elseif ( $size == 'gallery' ) {
            $attr['sizes'] = '845px';
        } elseif ( $size == 'magazine' ) {
            $attr['sizes'] = '710px';
        } elseif ( $size == 'masonry' ) {
            $attr['sizes'] = '705px';
        } elseif ( $size == 'entry_with_sidebar' ) {
            $attr['sizes'] = '845px';
    	} elseif ( $size == 'entry_without_sidebar' ) {
            $attr['sizes'] = '1210px';
        }
        return $attr;
    }
    add_filter( 'wp_get_attachment_image_attributes', 'avf_responsive_img_sizes', 30, 3 );

    Best regards,
    Ismael

    #1006432

    Hey!

    The portfolio grid looks more consistent after regenerating the thumbnails. (see private field)
    Did you add the filter?

    Best regards,
    Ismael
