Hello,
I’m completing a client website and suddenly exiting pages with content display empty content in the editor.
One day the Enfold text element editor worked and the next day it didn’t.
So when I click to edit a page, then click to edit a text element, I get this content: “Click here to add your own text,” and all of the existing content is gone from that editor! –even though it exists and is live on the page.
Screenshots:
I know the standard answer is to deactivate all plugins and switch to a default WordPress theme to see if the behavior still exists but that won’t help as this behavior is in the Enfold theme text element.
Thank you for your rapid help resolving this issue.

It shows the shortcode for the contact form in the column on the left and so it is something in that text box that breaks things.
Could you please enable the Advanced Layout Builder debug mode. Here is how to do it:

VictoriaAugust 27, 2018 at 6:10 am #1002139Thank you Victoria,
I will do this. But also, I created a new page, added columns and text boxes–and this same thing happens. No matter what I put in a text box, when I save the page and come back to it the page on the front end shows the content but if I click to edit any text box the text box is empty!
ChrisAugust 27, 2018 at 3:35 pm #1002310Hi cdwiegand,
I don’t see the Advanced Layout Builder debug output. Can you show me the test page?
Please deactivate all plugins one by one to check which one is causing this issue and let us know if this solves the problem.
Best regards,
VictoriaAugust 27, 2018 at 4:01 pm #1002332Hello Victoria,
After I enabled debug and tested the page I discovered I can now edit th4e content.
I have no idea what changed on the site as I didn’t do any updates.
Thank you for the support.

VictoriaAugust 31, 2018 at 9:56 pm #1004221Another Responsive issue… please see private comments for URL. (by the time you see the page I may have already replaced the theme elements with bootstrap or w3schools responsive code).
It really is exhausting to have one-page layout fail and then try another one and discover each time that nothing is responsive in the theme.
No matter which Content Element I put in a page NONE are Responsive (they all get trashed on phones and tablets, landscape and portrait).
Is there some box I forgot to check somewhere to tell things to be Responsive so the page elements adapt to different devices and screen sizes?
Tabs, Accordions, … and Layout Elements like doing a five-column row and then stacking them up on top of each other (with or without separators).
I have to get work done for a client so I’m giving up on this theme’s elements and using text blocks and bootstrap code in each so that they’ll work on all device screens.September 3, 2018 at 2:14 pm #1004970Hi Chris,
Looks like you’re not using Enfold anymore, that’st why you see the shortcodes showing up. I cannot check for responsiveness since you’re using a different theme now.

VictoriaSeptember 4, 2018 at 11:05 pm #1005813Yeah, thank you.
I never had a ticket about short codes appearing. They’re there now because ae gave up on Enfold due to the recurring issues where we could no longer edit content we created. And due to it being 2018 and the Enfold them is not responsive.
Thank you–we’re moving on.Any chance of getting a refund for the theme purchase on Envato?

MikeJuly 21, 2021 at 6:05 pm #1311204Hi Victoria,
we’re having same trouble.
Home page –>> first three boxes. Showing on frontend –>> “Click to add your own text here”
But is well written in the backend.
How could we solve it?
Many thanks
DavidJuly 21, 2021 at 6:14 pm #1311207Hey David,
I went to Appearance > Editor and commented out following line in /enfold/config-templatebuilder/avia-shortcodes/iconbox/iconbox.php file
‘std’ => __( ‘Click to add your own text here’, ‘avia_framework’ ),
We have reported the issue to our devs and will release an update soon. I shared this thread as reference as well.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
Best regards,
