We just purchased Newscast and are trying to get it running correctly with WP 4.3.1. I now realize that it may be a bit outdated, but we really like several things about it, and are thinking about how we could make it work. We’ve had some trouble with the sidebar widgets on the category pages – we’ve tried a lot of things in an effort to get them to display according to the instructions, but we seem to not be able to get them to work. Perhaps we’ve just made so many changes that it’s confused. Is there a way to reset something in the database (wp_options?) so that we can start over with the sidebars? Or will they not work with WP 4.3.1?

We’d also like to have this site be responsive, and we can do it ourselves, but it would take a while. Do you guys have the bandwidth to take on a customization yourself or would you farm it out?

If our best option really is to move on to a newer theme that is responsive, let me tell you what we’re after and maybe you can suggest something that would work. We like the fact that there are two menus, and that there is sufficient header space for customization, and that we can provide various lists of related posts (background reading), in the available sidebars (if that would work, obviously). The goal is to have sort of a hybrid news/MOOC site.

Any help that you guys could provide would be great. Thanks!

    Hi tcowin!

if you are searching for a freelancer for any jobs (making things responsive the way you want), take a look here:

We definitely recommend to check out our very best theme: It very flexible, modern and will be updated constantly.

Hi Andy and thanks for your response. Can you answer the questions I posed directly?

I’m afraid the theme is simply not suited to work with that version of WordPress, you’d need to downgrade 3.3 or move to newer theme, like Enfold (which would be ideal, pretty much all Newcasts features can be redone in Enfold with little to no effort).
