    As the title says, I just updated to the newest version of WP – I already had 3.0 beforehand – and now the color theme that habitat has doesn’t seem to be working. I’m getting the blue background but the links are no longer picking up the blue – the background also had an image which is no longer showing.

    Any help?

    same happened to my site when I updated to 3.1 one of the background colors is not picking up.

    This is being looked into, I’ll provide an update once cause / solution is found.

    Oddly enough, this is happening to me now too (the background picture issue). I updated to 3.1 a few days ago and had no problems with it. Only now is the problem happening. I was using the jQuery lazy load plugin, which I hacked a bit to only select images within the #top div. But I’ve since deactivated it,and I’m still having the problem. Moreover, the plugin didn’t cause it to disappear. I edited that plugin hours ago – only now is the background disappearing.

    Maybe this will help – I just tried using the image background function on my test installation, which is still on 3.0.5 and has no plugins besides the defaults and MapMyRide widget. The background function doesn’t work on this one either.

    Come to think about it, I did do one more thing. I requested to have SSH access enabled on my domain. Both domains that are affected by this have the SSH enabled. Might my host have something that messes up permissions or something that messes the background up? I’ll see if I can get my hands on a non-SSH enabled domain and install the theme on it, then get back to you guys.

    Alright, I went on one of my non-SSH domains and created two installations of WordPress. One I updated to 3.1 right away, one I didn’t. The one that wasn’t updated let the background work. Then I updated that one as well. Background didn’t break… until I tried to change it. Then it broke. So 3.1 is definitely the culprit.

    Here’s the really weird part. I went and edited all four CSS files, adding the background image CSS code taken from the function set_element_background_image, which is in /wp-content/themes/habitat/framework/classes/kclass_advanced_css_style.php.

    Even with the CSS hard-coded, the background does not show up. Something is super broken here.

    My background image just vanished to in Habitat at http://southerncaliforniacycling.com I was just adding a featured image to different pages then noticed it was gone. I too upgraded to 3.1 a few days ago. I disabled the plugins and that did not help.

    Do you have any suggestions on what I did wrong and how to fix?

    Any idea on when a fix will be ready? I was hoping to show to a client. thanks

    New breakthrough (still haven’t fixed it)

    In /wp-content/themes/habitat/framework/classes/kclass_advanced_css_style.php, I commented out the function set_element_background. Refreshed my blog, and I saw my image background! Problem is, nothing else showed up. So I’m getting the feeling that the background color is somehow covering up the image.

    If anyone else is trying to fix this, here’s some helpful hints:

    kclass_advanced_css_style is called in functions.php, in the $autoload array.

    The background is actually applied in header.php

    That’s all I’ve got for now! Hopefully James or Dude will figure this out the right way soon.

    If you just want to delete the body background color you can do this by replacing following code in header.php:

    $applyBackgroundColorTo = 'body, .dropcap2, .dropcap3, .dynamicBg, div .widget_tag_cloud a:hover,div  th ,div  #js_sort_items a:hover, #top div div .active_sort';

    $applyBackgroundColorTo = '.dropcap2, .dropcap3, .dynamicBg, div .widget_tag_cloud a:hover,div  th ,div  #js_sort_items a:hover, #top div div .active_sort';

    The best solution is to wait for an update to fix the problem without a hack….

    I actually tried commenting out the entire line that applies the background color, with no success. The background color is still there and the image doesn’t show. Oh well…

    I investigate your source code and it seems like the background image is declared twice. One time the code looks like:

    <style type="text/css">
    body { background-color: #2e3238; background-image: url('http://collegeinfogeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Old_Wood_by_DEVi8design3.jpg'); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: top center; background-attachment: scroll; }

    and around ten code lines later again:

    <!-- custom styles set at your backend-->
    <style type='text/css'>
    body{background-image: url('');
    <!-- end custom styles-->

    The empty url parameter overwrites your bg image. An easy way to fix this is to add following code to style.css:

    body { background-image: url('http://collegeinfogeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Old_Wood_by_DEVi8design3.jpg') !important; }

    I have the same problem, i just upgrade wordpress to 3.1. I lost my background and all color font titles changed…

    I don’t know what should i do ?

    Thanks, looks so ugly like that ;o(

    Thanks so much Dude! That worked perfectly. I’ll admit I went and declared the background image in all four CSS files, so I’m not surprised it was in my source code twice.

    Glad that I could help you :) – I set the status to solved for now but we’ll fix the WP3.1 bg bug :)

    So I changed the status in hopes of getting a quick fix for the link color bug…

    Also thanks for the bg fix!

    Kriesi told me that some theme updates will be available this week :)

    that is some AWESOME news!
