Hi, could you please have a look at http://thegoss.thenovakagency.com.au/ Submit Gossip button (former submit news). It has a number of issues.
a) In IE the popout has a white box, text barely visible. I can change colour of the text but then it becomes invisible in Firefox and Chrome.
b) In IE upon submission box remains blank, i.e. the user doesnt know if it the message went through.
c) In Chrome and Firefox there’s an ‘undefined’ text to the left of the close button. Not sure what it is?
Thank you!July 28, 2011 at 1:55 pm #49258
PS I have the latest theme and wordpress installation, and its not a plugin incompatibility issue. The errors are the same on localhost where I have no plugins active (even those that come with the theme).July 29, 2011 at 6:44 am #49259July 29, 2011 at 2:59 pm #49260
Thank you, I reported (b) issue ages ago but was told its some java mystery. So please for the sake of design, could (a) and (c) be addressed asap? Clearly, (a) only shows up in dark theme versions, so getting rid of the (c) would be a priority please.August 3, 2011 at 12:34 pm #49261
Hi again, if this is going to take forever, could you please specify how to change it into a simple popup instead of the lightbox? Or how to replace the form with another php contact form?
Thank you.August 4, 2011 at 9:55 am #49262
As the lightbox/popup is a rather complex feature I can’t offer a quick hack here. The undefinded bug seems to be lightbox related – you can try to update the lightbox: http://www.no-margin-for-errors.com/projects/prettyphoto-jquery-lightbox-clone/ – download the latest version and replace the old files in the js folder with the new ones.
If you’d like to modify the contact form you can do this in submit_news.php. You can adjust the popup window size in header.php. Search for:
<a id='submit_news' rel="prettyPhoto" class='ie6fix' href="<?php echo get_bloginfo('template_url'); ?>/submit_news.php?iframe=true&width=420&height=580"><?php _e($k_option['contact']['submit_news_text'],'newscast'); ?></a>
and adjust the width/height parameters. You can also replace the iframe link with a link to a standard contact page where you i.e. use contact form 7 or similiar plugins.August 10, 2011 at 12:36 pm #49263
Thank you, will give it a go. But do tell if/when Kriesi has time to fix the bug.

Its been a month since I posted the issue. Is there a chance to know when it will be resolved if at all?

Hey! Sorry for the late response, must have slipped through.
The problems you are encountering are directly tied to the lightbox of the theme which is not my code, therfore I am having a rather hard time to detect and fix those issue.
For now I would recommend to get the latest version of prettyphoto and replace your exisitng files with the new ones, maybe this will fix some of the issues.
Another option would be to use a plugin for this task, I have heard that there are quite a few powerfull plugins out there that can do these kin of tasks.
I will write everything onto my todo list but will not be able to fix it before next week.
