1. Is there anyway to remove the extra meta data column? I would like to put it above the post summary (or any place where it doesn’t waste that large amount of space)… The column in between the left sidebar and the post, it contains the date, # of comments, category, and author.
2. On this same page (and a couple of my other pages) the menu breaks away as you scroll down but it doesn’t break cleanly, it leaves space that allows you to see whats scrolling underneath. I’m not quite sure how to explain it, but below is a link where you can see both of the issues.

1) This is white space which is designed to make content better and easier to read for users. You can re-do the layout by modifying the includes>loop-index.php file. The actual steps to do so are beyond what we can direct you in via support as it will take a good bit of testing to make sure the new layout doesn’t cause any responsive issues or cross browser compatibility issues.
2) I’m not getting anything out of the ordinary for the fixed menu effect on your site right now but it could be a browser specific issue. A bit more information on the browser and version you are using will help.
on a similar topic, my posts seem to be showing the whole post rather than a summary as per my selection in the settings. How do I stop this from happening?
You can use the more quicktag ( http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/ ) to split the content into an excerpt & full content version.
