(I created this topic earlier today but don’t see it, so I’m posting again – apologies if this is a duplicate)

I would like my portfolio items to appear a certain way but only seem to be able to try 2 variations that are almost right but not quite:

On my portfolio page, my first video shows as a playable video on this first page. I don’t want it to have a play button on this page, I just want the thumbnail to show here, then when the user clicks, it goes to the detail page where you can play the video. Currently, you can actually get to the detail page if you click on the title bar below my video, but no one would do that if the play button is right there.

The second way I tried is how the 3rd video is showing. It does show the thumbnail without a play button, which is great, but then when you click on it, and go to the detail page, it shows a giant thumbnail and then a tiny video to the right of that. I would like the detail page to be more like in example 1 above, where you only see the video and text to the right (though I would prefer if the video wasn’t square).

    Any help is appreciated!

    Hey Crackletops,

First off, thanks for using our theme :) Will be a pleasure to help you.

Ive checked your dashboard and to avoid future problems, you need to update the theme to the latest version (thats the 4.7) – check this article to see how to update it correctly: http://kriesi.at/archives/ (Purchase code hidden if logged out) -enfold

Now about your problem, you can solve the thumbnail problem just adding a thumbnail (using a normal portfolio type) and add the video link as a content.

    Hi John,

Sorry, I do not understand. I tried adding a thumbnail by adding a featured image (I don’t see another way to do it) and it just adds it separately. I want the thumbnail to be a clickable thing (with no play button) that takes you to the detail page where a large-sized video can play. I have tried another way around this – if you look at my second video on my portfolio page called Kelli Anderson – it is almost right but the detail page it takes you to shows the video in a tiny box and the thumbnail is huge.

I also tried it another way: If you click BELOW my first video (called Peterson Neon), and not on the play button, it does take you to a detail page which is almost right, but the video is square. Also, no one would ever click below the video, they would just click on the play button, so they would never get to the detail page.

Just to try to explain my issue a little more clearly: On my portfolio page, I would like my videos to show only a thumbnail with no play button. The user would then click the thumbnail, which would take them to the detail page (portfolio entry page) where they would only see the playable video with no thumbnail image, as well as a short blurb to the right of it.

Currently, I can only get it to display one of 2 ways:

    1. Videos with play buttons on portfolio page. User can’t get to the detail page unless they click under the play button, which they never would. Detail page (portfolio entry page) is almost what I want but video is a square dimension.

    2. Videos show as thumbnails with no play button, which is what I want, but then when you click to the detail page, there is a very large thumbnail image (I don’t want thumbnail at all) and a tiny playable video.

    Thanks for any help!

    Hi,

    2. Videos show as thumbnails with no play button, which is what I want, but then when you click to the detail page, there is a very large thumbnail image (I don’t want thumbnail at all) and a tiny playable video.

Please do this and then we can remove the thumbnail via css. Or switch to the advance layout builder so that you can control how the page look.

    Best regards,
    Ismael
