Hi – I love this theme and am enjoying building sites with it! I have had a look through this forum and haven’t yet found an answer to the problem I’m having

I have the latest BrightBox installed with NextGen Gallery. I have inserted the custom effect code for prettyPhoto into the NextGen settings which has worked for most of my albums, but there is one (the first one I made) which isn’t working properly. When you click a photo, it loads OK but the line of thumbnails at the bottom does not. Also (maybe related) when hovering over these photos, the ‘play’ icon comes up, whereas for the all the others (which work fine) the ‘magnifying glass’ icon comes up.

I have deleted all the files in the troublesome gallery and reuploaded them from scratch, told NextGen to create new thumbnails, and still the problem persists. As far as I can tell there is nothing whatsoever different between this gallery and the others. Any help greatly appreciated!

    I’ve worked out the problem!!

Basically, any photo which had the extension in CAPITALS was not thumbnailing properly and was bringing up the wrong icon. I tested by uploading the same photos after manually changing the extension from .JPG to .jpg and hurrah! It works!

I don’t know if this is an issue with Brightbox or NextGen Gallery. If an admin could confirm this I would appreciate it.

    Hope this helps others!

One more useful trick – if you have SSH access to your server Linux has an insanely useful rename command which means you can very quickly change the extension case. Details at (Purchase code hidden if logged out) -shell-prompt.html

I think it’s an issue with our script because following line in avia.js:

    autolinkElements: 'a[rel^="prettyPhoto"], a[rel^="lightbox"], a[href$=jpg], a[href$=png], a[href$=gif], a[href$=jpeg], a[href$=".mov"] , a[href$=".swf"] , a[href*=""] , a[href*=""]'

checks the file type and applies the “right” icon to it. Because JPG isn’t jpg or jpeg Brightbox thinks it’s a video file (fallback). I’ll ask Kriesi to modify the check (eventually it should be non case sensitive).

    Hi Dude,

Thanks for the reply – glad to see I wasn’t going mad! Interesting to see the working behind it all, thanks. Hope it’s easy to fix in a future version.
