I have an issue where I click on the main image of a page, which opens another window containing the image. When I close the new window, the text “#!prettyPhoto” gets added to the end of the url.

Can you tell me if this is expected behaviour (and if so, why does it happen) or is there a way to prevent it happening (this would be preferable)?

    For example:

    – Go to

    – click on the main image. (The url has not changed)

    – a new window opens up showing the image

    – close this new window

    – now the url has changed to:!prettyPhoto

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Andre,

Yes, this is normal behavior and is what opens up the lightbox.

Thanks for letting me know – much appreciated…
