Hi, I’ll be as detailed as possible.

For no reason today, my portfolio items wouldn’t load (just the spinning circle in the middle) and all portfolio page links disappeared and showed as a 404 page. All footer widgets to the latest portfolio pages went to 404 page not found, even though these items were accessible through the dashboard under portfolio items.

I deactivated all plugins and the portfolio images appeared ok on the homepage but the pages were still 404’s.

One by one a reactivated all plugins and checked every single item through the dashboard. The problem seems to be with the plugin WP Socializer. If I activate this plugin, the portfolio items will not show up at all. If I deactivate, all works ok.

My issue is, WP socializer worked absolutely fine for 6 months with no problems before today and I haven’t updated it. Can anyone tell me why this has suddenly happened? I rely on WP socializer for links within my portfolio items.

My site is and I’m happy to provide my site details for you to check if something has corrupted in my site.

    Kind Regards

    Hi Chris,

My guess is that it is probably W3 total cache in conjunction with the other plugin (or else w3 by itself). I don’t know the setting off hand, but I believe you can set it so that w3 doesn’t minimize your javascript files which may fix your main issues.

Also be aware that when testing things, you have to make sure you aren’t getting half cached versions so viewing the site in incognito mode or the equivalent for your browser will help make sure you are viewing the correct live result of any changes you make.

Check the WP socializer plugin site as well for an update or any currently known issues. WP3.5 only recently came out and in updating to that there could have been an issue where only after adding another item it interacted with (ie a portfolio item or something) it wasn’t updated to work correctly with 3.5.

One more thing to try is to set your permalinks to default while switching things around. Just to keep one more possible conflict out of the picture.

    Hi Devin,

    Great support as usual :-)

The fault isn’t to do with W3 total cache but its a fault with WP-socializer.

Following your advice, I found a link to the problem, and a solution.

I’ve added it here: (Purchase code hidden if logged out) -errors

Hope this helps other users with the same problem. Editing the php file has solved the issue.
